Fic Rec and babbling
Oct. 3rd, 2006 07:42 amArgh, I need to read some of these AUs at
omniocular. I still want to write mine, but it's just not getting done. (I'm still stuck on altar boy Sirius.) And it would help so much if I could get some SLEEP.... ::Gazes menacingly at the 10 month old playing in his car behind me...::
Anyway, the rec.
k_marauders wrote a wonderful little piece called... uh oh. I think it's A Little Prayer to Father Time. Anyway. It's Alphard and Minerva gen, with some great stuff about Minerva kind of getting drawn into the Black family drama. You all know how I feel about Alphard and Minerva being in the same fic, and I really, really like this version of Alphard (even if he's not a werewolf). He's much more complicated than just "he left Sirius money because they were both Gryffindors", which isn't necessarily a bad theory, just... I like my Alphard complicated. I'm also delighted to see the concept that Sirius and the Prank had something to do with his reaction to his home life chaos, because I totally agree, and anyone who agrees with me must be right.
Anyway, it's a short little thing, very well written, and very worth reading. Go check it out.
I've also seen that meme going around about "post this in your journal if you believe in gay rights." Bleh. I flat out refuse. If you don't know I believe in equal rights for ALL humans, you really don't know me well enough and if you can't figure out that I think sexuality shouldn't matter in determining the worth of a human from the amount and kind of slash I write, then you're not going to figure it out from something I cut and paste. If you're American and believe in rights for all, write to your Senator or Representative instead.
Of course, if you live in Pennsylvania, you've got a dickhead of a homophobic Senator, who after writing him numerous letters about how you believe the Family Marriage Act is unconstitutional will then send you letters telling you what he's doing to promote it. :P I should write to someone else's Senator instead.
