I'm an idiot on the computer.

I am guessing something like what I'm looking for exists, I just don't know it. Can someone help me out? What I want to do is set up a site for extended family to post pictures and messages, sort of like a family scrapbook. Features I would like it to have:

1.) Free.

2.) Somehow private- you have to be approved or invited to join, etc.

3.) Easy to use- we have a lot of technophobes in our family.

4.) Ideally emails participants if there's a new picture/thread or something.

Anyone know a program that fits?

Myfamily.com (www.myfamily.com) has a 30 day free trial then it is $29.95 for a year's membership. I have a my family site. I can send out invitations to anyone I want. You can grant posting rights.

It is very simple to upload photos and you can set it up so that whenever new content is uploaded, an email is sent out.

It has a calendar feature, a place to post news, recipes, etc. ~ all with a comment feature so that anyone can add to the original posts.

I haven't really found anything else out there like it. If you want just a photo site, there is Shutterfly (www.shutterfly.com) and Kodakgallery (www.kodakgallery.com) but I don't believe they will automatically send out notices when new photos are uploaded.
