You know, it's ending up being a pretty good day.

1.) While Toby took a nap this morning, I took a long, hot bath and read the first two chapters (finally!) of Storm of Swords. There are few things more luxurious than that.

You know, I'm starting to, well, not LIKE Jaime, but appreciate the character. Sort of how I feel about Sawyer on Lost, or Umbridge in Harry Potter. But it's gonna take a lot for me to forgive him for Bran. I mean, come on, dude. The kid was seven. Just because he caught you having nookie doesn't mean you should kill him. At least Cersai appreciated that much. Besides, as said, the kid was seven. Wouldn't a seven year old be awfully easy to discredit?

Also, I have come to the conclusion George R.R. Martin has a fascination with rape. Which fits the world he's made, really, but you know what surprises me? We've yet to see one of the viewpoint characters actually be raped. But then, I'm only two books in.

Anyway, glad I'm finally sitting down and reading it, because I missed ASOIAF.

2.) Hubby called. That was nice, because he's going to England tonight and I won't be able to talk to him for seven days. (Transatlantic calls are expensive, so we save them for emergencies. Given that, I don't WANT to talk to him for seven days, because if I do it's likely bad.) But it was really, really nice to chat with him a bit this morning, especially since I was grumpy last night.

3.) I went over to the new Giant that opened up for groceries. Going to grocery stores that just opened is fun, because man- I almost ate lunch on free samples. I had cheese and fudge and veggies and pasta salad and a donut hole... seriously. I'm not a huge fan of Giant, but I go there because it's cheapest of all the stores around us. This new one is bigger, nicer, and best of all, closer than the other one. I might be liking it a lot more.

But as I was leaving I spotted 10-rose bouquets that were buy-one-get-one. I'd already paid, so I just admired the flowers, when a woman handed me a bouquet of red roses and said they were free. Cool! Obviously, it was just someone didn't take their "get one" or something, but still. It was nice.

I think I'm actually going to go get another bouquet after Toby gets up. The little girl next door to us broke her arm, and I thought maybe it would be nice to get her some flowers from Toby. We have SUCH nice neighbors, and the little girl is SUCH a sweetheart.... (Seriously, we really got lucky on the neighbor thing.)

4.) And tonight, I have cheesecake! Free cheesecake! I shouldn't eat it, but I am so going to as I relax and do my Two Towers viewing.

5.) And I made it through Lamentations! (No, I'm not reading the Bible. It's the Sirius story.) I think the section is a bit short, but such is life.

I'm on 'A Clash of Kings' - way behind the rest of the world, but then I only started this summer. I couldn't ignore what my flist were talking about any longer. At times I've felt that the sex has been put in to keep the teenage boys reading; sometimes it stands out a little and I think 'there he goes again'. Don't think I have come across any rapes yet but it's an obvious development.

Have a lovely time watching your film. I'm glad you got that bath - I saw your earlier post!

It's very interesting you're saying this *before* having read A Feast for Crows... But if you're beginning to like Jaime, you also have a reason to look forward to it.

But I'll say no more now, for fear of spoiling the Feast for you.

Free cheesecake and a gift of flowers?

I want to go grocery shopping with you!

How sweet of you to think of the little neighbour girl; I know I'd have been a miserable kid if I had a broken arm and would feel twice as bad with it being so close to Halloween(the best holiday ever!).
