Um, why is half my f-list not squeeing over this? Or ranting? Or something?

God, I hope this works out, especially since they're cancelling Rome!

Casting discussions, begin now!

(I just know I'd like the guy who plays Brutus in Rome- and Lucius- back on my screen, thanks. I'm sure we could find parts for them pretty easily.)

I need to find me a ASOIAF icon, aside from this one!

Clearly we have different f-lists - I saw a good half-dozen posts about it yesterday! :D

I was planning to semi-squee over it, but yes I expected more people to do so too. :)

I think that we ASOIAF fans have learned the hazards of emotional investment in risky ventures. Also we know how long it can take for anything related to ASOIAF to see the light of day. I think that we're collectively holding our breath and waiting to see if any of this pans out before we start raving like batshit insane fangirls.

Not that we aren't praying to the old gods (or the Seven, or the Lord of Light, or the Many-Faced God) for this to happen, mind you.

ext_14568: Lisa just seems like a perfectly nice, educated, middle class woman...who writes homoerotic fanfiction about wizards (ASOIAF-Jon&Ghost)

I saw it yesterday when grrm posted about it himself. I'm very excited, but considering it was only just optioned and purchased, I don't expect it to actually air (or head anywhere out of pre-production) for another two years. And some people are talking about casting already... o_O

Are they really cancelling Rome? I'm surprised about that. Not that I watch it, but the people I know who do all love it.

With regard to icons for asoiaf, I made mine, and really, all I did was resize one of the gallery pics I loved and add the text "Snow" to it. I'm using it as my default at present as a sort of talisman because I want some snow before the end of winter! (Nice, fluffy, 28 - 30 degree weather snow, not subzero, nasty, freezing rain and ice type snow.)

meh. I gave up on the books, but might be interested in a miniseries. HBO does do them well and there was a reason I liked the books in the first place.

I've been reading ASOIAF for a little over a year (Love, love LOVE them!) and I just ventured into the fandom recently in response to a Yuletide / NYR challenge fic I'm writing... was supposed to write... erm.. I'm writing.

I believe I did see some stuff on the movie / miniseries on the message boards (such as the westeros message boards), but most of my LJ flist aren't Martin fans.

Can't think why not. I was looking around Tower of the Hand and thinking, "OMG! This is my next fandom!"

Just posting with icon love!

I was *Kicking* myself not to have spotted Renly/Loras on my own....

But then I tend not to look for slash in mainstream fiction (as your icon says, usually it's not intentional).

Anyway, when I started reading on some of the GRRM / ASOIAF websites I was like, "What?! Which books have I been reading! Damn!" and then I did the happy dance all over my flat.

Because I didn't see it until I checked my friends page today. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Hmmm! I'll get back to you on casting ideas. Probably Warwick Davis as Tyrion though. There are only so many good dwarf actors.

We must! Ah well. I know now, and it will be forever until it happens, anyway! :)

This is an excellent point. You'd think as a Pern fan (the rights to Dragonflight have been optioned for HOW long?) I'd get this by now! :)

Yeah, this season's it on Rome. too bad- I liked that one.

And yeah, I guess I should know better than to get excited yet! :) But it's hard not to.

I saw your post about that. I meant to respond. I'm probably at about the same point as you were. (Halfway through SoS.) I have to admit, I've sort of lost my emotional investment. Maybe that's why I'm rooting for Remus to die so all the marauders can be dead together- reading GRRM makes me bloodthirsty, because that's how you have to be to survive his books :)

I'm a huge fan, but his world's so detailed, I'm very grateful that nothing speaks to me as a fandom, if that makes sense! But I LOVE the fanart :)

Not only that, if I was Warwick Davis I would KILL for the part. How many times does a role like Tyrion come up, either? Smart, in-depth, one of the main characters, charismatic, and just plain fucking cool? When GRRM kills off Tyrion (because he liked killing off his characters), I will cry. I haven't cried at one of his character's deaths since Ned Stark.

Luckily, so far nothing has compelled me to do more than lurk on the boards. I haven't even registered. I'm trying to keep it that way. Don't need another hobby, nope, no sir.
