There's Real Life Now?

My GP is so not a heroin addict. If he was, he could possibly get a needle into my veins :P Although, to be fair, he only had to stick me twice. In the hospital when I had Trevor, they finally got it on their sixth try.

Nothing wrong with me- just had a regular physical, followed by an ear exam. I HATE having my ears examined- especially when they clean out the wax. Seriously? I would rather have a pap smear. Sorry if I grossed any of the guys out, but I really would. Two important things I learned at the ear doctor's though:

1.) They now have funky fiber optics cameras that they can show you the inside of your ear. That was pretty cool.

2.) It is REALLY depressing the first time you have a doctor that you're fairly certain is younger than you.

Granted, Toby's OT is younger than me, but still. That's different. I'm not sure how, but it is.

Anyway. Eagerly waiting for the rs_games to start round 2 posting, mainly because I suck at anonymity and I am dying to talk about the fic I wrote for it. I should also review National Treasure 2 for MRFH, but I may get sucked into my Battlestar Galactica rewatch.



New things I've learned about BSG on the rewatch:

1.) I really hate Leoben. Okay, so I've always known that, but he reminds me of a college philosophy student who thinks he's cool because no one can understand him. (And it's probably because he doesn't make sense.)

2.) The writers very obviously liked The Hulk and wanted to pay tribute. "You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Hehehe.

3.) I'm still clinging to my Gaeta-is-a-Cylon theory, especially after watching Water, where he freaks out when Roslin asks him to guess what happened to the water tanks. However, I do have to admit I lost a lot of steam on that when D'Anna said Cylon #5 was not in the fleet. I can't remember if she has reason to think Gaeta is dead, but she certainly has reason to think Ellen is dead, and Ellen also evens out the whole gender thing. Although I still like the idea that she's an aged Six. However, I am the last person in the slash universe to come to the conclusion that all right! you win! Gaeta most definitely has a crush on Baltar. I didn't think so, but man, after rewatching it, I do. And the writers definitely decided to torture Gaeta off the bat, by having Baltar question him when he was in the bathroom. That scene takes on a whole new dimension of embarrassment when you figure in a crush.

4.) Speaking of Gaeta, I was watching this deleted scene with Gaeta and Dee joking around about Roslin and Adama. (thistlerose, if you haven't seen it you really must- you'll love it. It's cute.) Can anyone with better hearing hear what Gaeta whispers to Dee when they walk away from Tigh? It's either "Maybe he's jealous" or "maybe he joins in", I think, but I'm not sure.

5.) It's really weird to see Tigh smile again. He hasn't done much of that recently. And I REALLY hate Ellen. I don't get what he sees in her.

6.) I'd forgotten how adorable Billy and Dee are. Stupid writers, making Dee screw Billy over for Lee. I have to confess, a fanfic scene entered my head where Dee's telling Gaeta about Billy's awkward compliments and... oh, hell.



"He said my hair looked good," Dee said, with too strident of an edge to her voice. "He's like a little lost puppy dog."

"Hey," Felix countered, turning off the water, "don't kick the little lost puppy dogs. There's nothing wrong with them."

Dee gave him a long, searching look. "You made a fool of yourself in front of Dr. Baltar again, didn't you?"

"Completely," Felix admitted.



It's not gonna be a gateway drug... it's not gonna be a gateway drug.... BTW- have we ever seen a wedding in BSG? (And did we ever see Dee's and Lee's? Oh, God, their names rhyme. PUKE! I'm just, y'know, wondering. And I haven't seen Razor.)

7.) Howard's been inflicting the old BSG on me. It's really pretty funny. But I like the old Apollo a lot more than the new one.

8.) I really can't make Dee into a Cylon in my head. Part of it is because I really did lose interest in her after she two-timed Billy. But she's just not interesting enough. I won't bitch about that at all, because BSG is chock full of fascinating female characters (Roslin for the win!), but she just isn't interesting enough to be a Cylon. Her best moments are when she's married to Lee and knows he's lusting after Starbuck.

Or when she's with Billy. ::grumble:: I do hope they leave her single by the end, though. Not because I want revenge, but the Noah's Ark syndrome always drives me bonkers.

9.) I don't know when I became disenchanted with Helo, but it ain't first season. The Helo/Sharon plotline is still making me melt. Also still very much in love with Roslin/Adama.

10.) The scene where it comes out that Roslin thinks Adama is a Cylon and Tigh is standing right there with him? OMG- that's so funny right now.



I need a life.

The pediatric office where I take the girls is associated with a local hospital which is, in turn, associated with a medical school. It's considered a "teaching hospital" - where the med students come to do their rotations and such, which means I've now had reeeeeaallly young doctors come to do the initial appraisal of the girls, with their supervising experienced doctor coming in for a second round afterwards. I agree - definitely disconcerting! (Two's last speech therapist was probably younger than I am, and the new one will be too, I suspect - she just graduated.)

What's so awful about having wax removal? You mean the flush system, or the scrape-out system?

It might be your veins - my record is 15 trys before they got blood! If you have to have your ears cleaned out often, you could use ear wax removal drops in between visits. Even if it doesn't get all the wax out, it makes it much easier for the doctor to syringe them.

It's vacuum/scrape-out. I have a very long history with my ears, so I guess it's from that. I just don't like having people stick things in them :) I'm such a wimp.

15? Ouch! It is my veins- I have fly-away veins like my mom, and they're small. ::sigh::

They gave me some drops, but because I still have a tube I have to use specific ones. Great fun, I tell you. Great fun. :P
