Remix- Whee!
Feb. 18th, 2007 10:26 amRemix assignments are out- whoohoo!
You know, the beauty of such a large challenge is that you can get someone you know well, and know their work and have a head start, or you can get someone you don't know at all, and have a whole new body of work to explore. 'Scool. Not saying which I have, but either way, I think you come out with an interesting possibility.
I already have at least one idea for what I'm going to do. It's ambitious, but I think I could do it. However, my remixee does two fandoms that I said I'd write for, and I haven't read or reread even an eighth of his/her stuff. This is also cool, because it's nice that I have ideas already.
This is the first time I've had the option of remixing in a different fandom than HP. Last year, I had
medicinal_mirth, and while she writes in other fandoms, they aren't ones I'm familiar with. This year, however, I've got options on fandoms. The interesting thing for me is that HP is the only fandom I've ever written in, not counting Pern because Pern is an entirely differently-run fandom and doesn't count for something like this. (All fics are published in zines and must contain non-Anne McCaffery characters.) Her OTP in the non-HP fandom is a pairing I like, but am not in love with, which may or may not play into it. Maybe I should read the stories first ;) But it's cool to have the option. Hehehe. Here's what I'll do (NOT!)- I'll remix two stories together, and make them a cross-over! Hahahahahaha!
Don't worry,
musesfool. I won't really do it. (Although I might have if I thought I could make it work. But it would require exactly the right stories. Exactly.)
Ah well. Maybe I should get reading!
