Well, if nothing else, my hair looks pretty. I dyed it last weekend (I'll only dye it when hubby's around to take care of the boys), and got it trimmed/cut today. It's gotten really long again, which is how I like it, but it was getting crazy-tangled. I didn't realize just how long it had gotten because I wear it back in a ponytail all the time so Trevor won't pull it. But she took a good 4 inches off, and there's still plenty there.

After getting my hair cut, I went Christmas shopping. In King of Prussia. Those of you who live around here know the depths of my insanity. Those of you who don't, just take it from me- it was a nutso idea. I even hit Toys'R'Us.

I'm still not remotely in the Christmas spirit, though. I was in TRU thinking about how crazy it is that we get so much for Christmas, and at the same time thinking "ooh, how cool is that?" I got Toby an art easel and a construction vehicle, and Trevor a book and a toy. And I'm done, because daddy's already had lots of fun shopping ;)

I went over to the mall after, and I found myself getting frustrated again. Not so much with the crowds (although I didn't exactly enjoy them) or whatever, but with stuff in general. For example, I went into Nordstrom's to use the bathroom, because they have a nice one that is usually pretty clean. A couple of price tags caught my eye, and seriously- 1000 for a dress? Even my wedding dress wasn't that much.

I get that people want to look nice. Hell, I just had my hair cut and colored it last weekend. And I definitely get that you have to pay for quality. But as I was walking through the mall and looking at different makeup counters and all that... I seem to be swinging back to the resentment that society likes to tell women we aren't attractive enough as is. Granted, I was looking at a men's magazine and we seem to be telling men the same thing, just in different ways. You're not attractive enough if you don't drive a certain car or have certain gadgets or do certain things. But it is more predominant with women. (If you can't tell, I'm not wearing makeup again.) But at the same time, I know other people just like the stuff and don't think that way, and hey- who can blame them for that? Some women genuinely feel more confident in makeup and nice clothes, and anything that gives someone confidence has some good points. (Well, not ANYTHING. But anything reasonable.)

Yeah. Some Christmas spirit, huh? I really hope it kicks in soon. I'd also like to stop coughing and sniffling, too.
