Jan. 17th, 2009 04:37 pmSo, an advocate/case worker for our insurance company called yesterday because I asked to be hooked up with someone. The reason they gave this specific woman our case? Her daughter had been through the same program.
Seriously- it felt like a gift. To know that the person helping us KNOWS that this is real, that this is medical, and that this is biological and not just behavioral... it's HUGE. It's such a help. And it makes me feel like maybe we've got a shot. Coupled with our own appeal letter and the fact that Howard is siccing his HR department on them... we aren't holding back.
The ouchiness from last night is fading a little. Not much, but some. Was the episode perfect? No. Was it good anyway? Hell yeah. Oh, heck.
I listened to a bit of the commentary. Really, I just listened to the parts with Dualla's suicide, because that was the part that hit me so hard. I was really pleased to hear that they're going to deal a bit more with Gaeta's reaction to it. I figured, because otherwise he wouldn't have been sitting outside the morgue. I'm also guessing from the timings that the Raptor of Doom takes place during the next episode. Given that they leave Earth at the very end of this one, the Raptor of Doom hasn't happened yet. And given that the promo for the next one shows Gaeta and talking to Zarek (and I assume that's who Hoshi meant at the end of the webisodes), it ends after the Raptor of Doom happens. Unless Zarek's trying to recruit Gaeta, and Gaeta's doing one of those "I'll never work with you!" posturings. But that seems like it would be cliched and also take up way too much time.
I'm still thinking about what JE said about Hoshi working out better for Season 4 than Narcho would have. I am really, really hoping that we don't get to the point where it's clear that Gaeta and Hoshi hate each other. I could actually easily see that, just because it seems like Hoshi will stay on Team Tidama while Gaeta's co-captaining Team Zaeta. And I can see where that could be considered "working better", too, if there's bitterness there. "I search all of space for you and you thank me by dumping my ass and mutinying?" I wouldn't blame Hoshi for feeling that way, and I could see that fueling something much darker. Which, this is BSG. This is the show where one of the characters I like just SHOT HERSELF. It can happen.
On the other hand, there is the line about Gaeta protecting Hoshi, which I kind of like to think might be written to explain something Gaeta would have normally done anyway. And I also saw an interview on LJ with Aaron Douglas, and he cited Gaeta and Hoshi as his favorite BSG couple because he thought they were good together. Now, realistically he may have cited them because it's webisode only, it's pretty much done, and he can't get busted for spoilers. But maybe it also indicates that they don't end up hating each others guts and drowning in bitterness. A girl can hope.
Anyway, as advertised,
tin_o_biscuits's Page 3!!!!! Yay!
