Spring NOW. Please.
Mar. 17th, 2009 02:03 pmOh. My. God. Could spring get here any quicker? PLEASE????
I'm not sure if it's just Toby getting older or if it's because he's eating better, but this kid NEEDS to go outside and play. Seriously, he just has so much energy... which is good. But it's better outside. There are several excellent parks very nearby, and plenty of buddies and toys to play with at home. We just need the decent weather.
We also need Trevor to WALK already. Come on, Trev, I know you can do it! He's 15 months, and he's still not walking. I'm not worried, because at this point it's clearly a matter of wanting to and confidence as opposed to being able to. I mean, he runs around the kitchen (literally runs) with his pushcarts nonstop. But given the woodchips at parks, life would be easier if he'd be walking by park weather.
I took the boys for haircuts yesterday. It was a miserable experience, and not at all due to the salon. I've been taking them to the same one for almost every haircut. They both howl and scream and act like she's cutting off their fingers rather than their hair, and although the charge is reasonable for a little boy's haircut, I end up tipping her about half as much again. We make sure we go on weekday mornings when we'll disturb the minimum number of people, but oi.
Oh, and we started letting Toby watch Star Wars. He ADORES it. And, as expected, he's begun using wrapping paper rolls as light sabers (is there anyone who DIDN'T do this?) The only problem? The rolls were still inside the wrapping paper when he got to them.
Seriously, whoever invented Sisophys spent their days trying to clean up after toddlers.
I see my flist has been happily mocking SciFi's namechange to Syfy to prevent themselves as being seen as too geeky. Me? I'd make the network MORE geeky, with better scifi shows that can keep up with BSG, actually showing scifi movies, doing a deal to get Futurama back on, and looking for ad revenue from places like Dell/Mac, more video game ads, and beer companies. (Although few things top "Battlestar Galactica! Brought to you by Viagra!" I'm sorry, but given the age of the two epic-est couples on the show, that's really funny.)
Speaking of geek, I posted fic last night: Internal Exiles. PG, Five people who didn't put Felix Gaeta's picture on the wall, and one who did. One of these days I'm going to make a rec list, too.
Hope everyone has a good afternoon!

Date: 2009-03-17 06:37 pm (UTC)I saw that on Fandom Lounge. SyFy? Seriously? Sounds like it'd drive more viewers away than bring them in. 0.o
(Of course, it helps too that they can trademark "SyFy" since they can't trademark "Sci Fi"...*headdesk*)

Date: 2009-03-17 06:50 pm (UTC)"I didn't actually bother reading any of that, but I think it said something about becoming a much more generic cable station and not playing reruns of Star Trek: TNG anymore. Smart move."
Boring and corporate. D: I hope that it won't stop them from continuing to make awesome miniseries adaptations and bad movies.

Date: 2009-03-18 03:55 am (UTC)We ought to get together again sometime- I think we're due for another visit! Let me know when and where is good for you :)

Date: 2009-03-18 04:19 am (UTC)Besides, my point was that I had reconsidered correcting you--since you got the phonetics right (else how could I have known what you meant?), you met the only standard that matters to me for a good transliteration. Good on ya!

Date: 2009-03-23 04:16 am (UTC)I agree 5000% that Sciffy needs to be MORE geeky, not less. Honestly, who decided that horror (and terrible horror at that) belonged on a science fiction channel? And why, in the name of the dear and fluffy Lord, did they pass on Firefly?!?!!?!
(gah, so far behind on LJ. "Internal Exiles" is in another tab begging me to stay up later, but I'm giving a final at 8am tomorrow, so I know better.)
