femgenficathon is back! For those of you not in the know, this is an awesome ficathon that produces great gen fics about women. I'd pimp it, but I'm not sure how many prompts are left! (Go over and check it out to be sure.)

I haven't done it for a few years, but this year I snagged one. I was out of ideas for Harry Potter, but now that I have a new sandbox... and BSG has such GREAT female characters. I know that people get up and arms about certain aspects, but Laura Roslin rocked.

On the one hand, BSG is a fairly non-sexist society, so the very literal aspect ain't gonna work. But on the other hand, lots of warriors. For all that Laura's awesome, I have no desire to write her. I feel like Laura's stories got told. But... but...

Seelix. I could do Seelix on New Caprica, leading into why Seelix joined the mutiny. Especially since that arc includes her rise to pilot. Natalie. I could do Natalie, who rises above the Sixes to become an individual and a leader among the Cylons, and what that struggle was like. Dee. I could do Dee leaving her home on Sagittaron and fighting with her father. There's Cain, who became an Admiral, there's Cally who wanted to be a dentist and went military, there's Ellen who developed Resurrection, there's Paula and her Pipe of Smiting and her stepping into Gaius's shoes, there's the female suicide bomber on New Caprica, there's Kat's year as CAG, there's Racetrack...

Clearly, you can see my idea is going to be lack of inspiration. Pfft.

I'll probably steer away from Dee, though. Aside from the Dee epic I've got started, because of the nature of this ficathon my boys must stay OUT of the fic, and I totally don't trust them not to in a Dee fic. The Plan doesn't come out until November, so I should be safe from any jossing there mid-challenge. If I was going to do Laura I'd do New Caprica times, but it looks like the graphic novel is taking care of that. I think at this point I'm leaning towards Seelix, maybe with a heavy side of Dee and Racetrack.

I also have to get moving on other fics (half checklist, half blabber):

Youth's Final Luxury: Definitely a part 8, possibly a part 9, depending on my pacing. Given I'm on page 3 and Felix STILL hasn't gotten around to breaking up with Hoshi, I'm suspecting 9. I'm also getting back into where canon has a lot to say, so that's always a fine line to walk.

A Lot to Live Up To: (working title) My Dee-Hoshi epic. Yeah, it's gonna be another epic. I'm really, really excited about this one.

Gaeta/Jake: I've been meaning to write this for the Little Black Dress challenge, and I've also got some idea that it might get used for the LGBT challenge. The thing about it is that I almost feel like the conversation between two characters part might not fit. My prompt is two characters not in a relationship talk about what it's like to be gay with different ages/backgrounds/etc. The thing about this fic is that one of the characters is an OC. I've been tossing around the idea of a five times fic, where there are five times characters talk about the concept, but I'm not sure I can come up with enough characters. And for the most part, it's not supposed to be any big deal in the BSG universe anyway. Like, they don't even have the concept of "out". But I figure you can make leeway with the Sagittarons.

Birthday fic for Tin: I have a GREAT idea for this, but Tin, I'm not gonna tell you it's birthday fic until after. If it ever gets written at this rate.

Baltar/Tyrol for blue_crow. I still owe this, as she made me my firing squad icon. I have ideas, I just haven't sat down to write it.

Altar Boy!Felix: What IS it about religion in fics that hits everyone's kinks? Yes, I've pretty much been dared (or at least bribed with art), so I'm going to do it. I think I might manage to work the Starbuck-Gaeta catfight over card counting into it, too, because that's something else I want to see. And yes, I think I can do both.

Remix(es): rose_griffes and I are planning on putting together a BSG remix (been working on it, anyway), and I'd like to toss my hat into that ring. And if the multifandom Remix ever happens, I'll toss in there, too.

Femgenficathon: have gone on about that extensively above.

Other stuff: Like MRFH stuff and original stuff. Gotta do that, too.

Wow. I've got lots of writing to do....

That is a great quote! I'd love to see you do Seelix but personally I think Paulla would be ideal. Because the women in Baltar's cult pretty much are concubines and Paulla is the one who rises up with her pipe of smiting and her many guns to become the new cult leader. And because I seem to have taken leave of my senses and decided that Paulla and Jeanne are frakking awesome.

Yay! Starbuck Vs Gaeta catfight! I want to see that too with lots of hair pulling and maybe even some biting. How would you do religious!kink Felix when he is all sciencey?

Yeah, Paulla fits that quote perfectly, doesn't she? Seelix isn't quite as on... and Paulla shouldn't get jossed by any new canon. (I really hate that.)

I like the idea of Starbuck or Felix biting. Not sure who would bite first! :) As for religious kink Felix, having him be an altar boy/acolyte when he's younger and then tell the story of how he pretty much lost his faith, without making it seem like atheists are bad or just don't believe in God because their life sucks. And it's never established that Felix IS an atheist. He could be agnostic or just vaguely believing in the Gods as some general entity. He certainly doesn't believe in signs and everything, but he almost makes an argument for Gods when he points out how unlikely it is that they and the Cylons converge on the planet right when the star's about to go supernova, but just can't quite bring himself to say it.

But it would be fun :)

I'll bet 5 cubits on Kara biting first, though she better be careful if Felix has a pen on him.

Yeah, Felix seems very MEH about organised religions and destiny, but I agree he may not be an atheist. I could see him being a deist or even a pantheist. His speeches about 'the reckoning!' carry a very religious tone.

Hoshi certainly seems to have a spiritual side.
