I love the feeling after a good run. This, however, is not it. Ugh. It was in the 80s for the first time today, we wore ourselves out at the Please Touch Museum, and I drank a Coke. BAD combination. I made it up to three miles yesterday, today I barely finished 2.5.

Yesterday was a really nice day. [livejournal.com profile] aome came up to visit, which I REALLY enjoyed. And not just because the boys behaved themselves. It's always so nice to have adult conversation, and girl talk. We had pizza for dinner, I got in a good run, Trevor was walking all over, the weather was perfect... sigh.

Today was good pre-run, except exhausting. We went down to the Please Touch Museum in Philly. A bit pricey at $15 a person (no child discount, unless they're under 1), but the boys had SUCH a good time. Toby especially. He really wasn't thrilled about leaving. There was a whole water section which he loved splashing in, and a section with cars, and a section where the kids could pretend to operate machinery with foam bricks... it really was neat. Trevor delighted in walking everywhere, and there were all sorts of buttons he enjoyed pushing, and little doors he could open and close, and all kinds of things. The cafe was overpriced but actually had some healthier choices, which was nice, and parking was only $5. We went early in the morning- we were there by 9:30- and that was a really good idea, believe me.

The writing karma fairy came to visit. I finished the freaking trial scene in YFL9, so it gave me a nice unexpected gift- a chance for Felix to say goodbye to Hoshi without remotely taking away from the Baltar encounter. YAY!

[livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix assignments went out the other day. I'm fairly excited about it. This is the first challenge I've ever modded, and so far it feels like it's going okay. It's interesting because I know about 1/3 of the participants fairly well fandom-wise, but the other 2/3? Nope. Not at all. But lessons I've learned so far:

1.) You're never being as clear as you think you are.
2.) Assume nothing. Spell it ALL out, and then be prepared to answer it all again anyway.
3.) It's never going to be easy, and something you didn't expect WILL come up.
4.) It's a good thing to mod a challenge with someone else. I'm SO glad I'm doing this with [livejournal.com profile] rose_griffes.

I'm playing, too, and I've got my assignment. I'm pretty excited about it, although I have NO CLUE what I'm going to do. But it should be fun.

I should get Trevor up. He's still wiped from today, I'm sure. ::sigh:: So am I. And it sounds like so is Toby. Eek. This is gonna be a fun night.

re the remix- I didn't sign up for anything, but can I still volunteer my services as a beta?? School's ending soon and if I land a part-time work thingy I can still devote ample time to betacation.

Absolutely and a BIG HELL YES! You can also pinch hit if you want, when the time comes. But yeah- betas do NOT have to participate in the challenge itself.

How did everyone get through the evening? I'm glad to hear the PTM was a success (although - ick - to the prices).

I wanted to do a 3 mile run today, but first Two wanted to go with me for a mile, then MiniPlu wanted to go with me for two miles upon my return with Two, but MiniPlu wasn't dressed yet so there was a 10-min lag while she got ready, and then she petered out after the first mile and there was a LOT of coaxing and walking on the way home, sigh. So - I kind of got my 3 miles in (first time this season) but in a wholly unsatisfying way.

No child discounts is odd. I've never been anywhere that didn't have one.

Whee remix! I'm terribly frightened by my assignment, but I figure that's all part of the fun. Freaking out is reserved for right before deadline.
Anonymous challenges can be especially tricky. It seems to be going well so far, from what I can tell. I'd suggest having pinch hit sign-ups next month, so you're not scrambling too much when people end up dropping out.

That sounds like SUCH a fun museum! I'm jealous. I remember having fun pointing out things to random kids at the Exploratorium--it'd be so fun to take friends' kids there! (Or to OMSI in Portland, or the Vancouver Science Center, or the Oregon Coast Aquarium....I'm such a geek. :-)
