Nah, don't. I love beta'ing. But I also usually refuse to beta when a writer refuses to share their outline. It means there aren't many surprises for me, but there are a lot of other things I can appreciate all the more, like all the hints you executed while leading up to this chapter. :) (I have that friend who's been writing an epic for the last two years. She doesn't have a beta but occasionally she asks me to troubleshoot when she has a specific problem. So every time I say "Well, before I can help you, I need to know how will the story end?" And she knows. She has it all laid out. But she won't tell me! It's frustrating to navigate blindly, not to do the best editing job I could be doing, and I wouldn't mind reading the fic minus the suspense at all. I still help her out though, because she's a friend and she's very charming. ;))
While I love Dee-Felix as a friendship, I often find myself writing them with a little emotional distance. Almost like they don't talk about certain things because they need that love for each other.
That's very true and very interesting. Huh. I've never thought about it like that but I concur. It also goes a long way in explaining why they weren't there for each other in some scenes in canon, and why they apparently weren't as close as they could have been. For me as a writer, that's very useful because when I write Felix/anybody-who's-not-Dee, I usually don't want Dee to mess things up by telling Felix what he should do. ;)
Of course, now my porn muse is going, too, and I've got a series of ten porn drabbles going. Can someone please shut the voices in my head UP?
I hear there are pills for that, nowadays. :p ;)
Porn drabbles? That sounds interesting and unusual. :)
I wish I had a constructivism muse right now. I really need one. There should be a law that prohibits writing a paper after dusk. :-/
