It's almost as if the breakthrough with Hoshi allowed Dee to feel like she can mourn, but she's shifted over her need to be strong to Lee, keeping him from mourning
YES!!!! This sentence made me dance with joy, because that's exactly what I was going for. Her breakthrough with Hoshi indirectly contributed to the deterioration of her marriage, because Hoshi got it and understood, and in a way, Dee might have been better off if he hadn't, because MAYBE then she would have leaned on Lee more. (Of course, he might have still cheated with Starbuck because Starbuck is a Special Snowflake and Dee is no one special, even though she's GORGEOUS and can kick ass and saves Starbuck in one of the best scenes ever). But yes, this is exactly what I was going for. It shouldn't, and I would never, ever BLAME Dee for it, but the fact she and Hoshi became friends did help in the way she and Lee drifted apart. ::sniff::
But what I really have to comment on is:
The bits about Dr. Robert have me wondering...did Dr. Robert give Hoshi a check-up of...questionable accuracy on New Caprica because Hoshi's from Sagittaron?
YES YES YES YES YES!!!! :) I've been waiting for someone to pick up on that! I'm not sure if we'll find out exactly what he did because I haven't decided if he'll confess, or if I'll just leave it to the imagination. I mean, Hoshi's cancer is only stage 2, and AML can develop VERY quickly. On the other hand, I like the idea that Robert just never tested the bone marrow.
One of the things I was a little worried about- and one of the reasons that Cottle is present in the biopsy scene- is that people would think Robert is being deliberately sadistic in that scene because Hoshi's Sagittaron. He's not- at ALL- because by then he's realized that Hoshi's Sagittaron, and, like Dee, he's "one of the good ones". Bone marrow biopsies just suck. Adama was there to show that, but Cottle was there to show it was all above board and legit.
But yes, Hoshi has had his run ins with Robert, and that will play an interesting role later :)
