The wedding kicked butt, and actually went off without a hitch. Given that the night before my sis was up doing the seating chart, this was rather a minor miracle. But it did. It rained- no, POURED- all day, but that's minor. She looked stunning, the flowers were gorgeous, the DJ was good, the photographers were professional, the room was beautiful, and everyone seemed to have a good time. I didn't even look quite as bad as I could have, and even better hubby got rather drunk and was quite appreciative :) I love it when he gets drunk. I really do. He's not a lech or anything- he's just more expressive of what he's really thinking. And he dances.

So we're home, having survived. And a warm bath is definitely on the agenda for tonight.

Thoughts and all that:

1.) Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] wickedevra! I know it's late, but my LJ bday list doesn't have you listed.

2.) Anyone have any really amazing fic or art recs from the last week? Like, the can't miss sort of stuff?

3.) Must write much. Papers for work, novel, fics, MRFH reviews, Christmas cards.... Plus I need to start prepping for baby and do some major cleaning. I'm gonna be busy. I barely got anything written at my parents' place, unless it had to do with the wedding.

4.) Would love to hear any R/S-centric reports of The Witching Hour. (Headed over to the community to check out the general stuff.) REALLY wish I could have gone, but yeah. SO would not have happened.

5.) Penn State beat Ohio State!!!!!! WHOOHOO!!!! :)

Welcome back dude. Jazzy has a list of recs which are all fairly decent, including some R/S.

Hey, welcome back! Wonderful to hear that the wedding went off perfectly on all counts ;-) I second [livejournal.com profile] theregoesyamum's suggestion re Jazzy's recs. And if you don't mind self-pimpage, maybe check out Crab Apples.

Yep, get that writing outta the way now--because the end of November will be here before you know it. :-0

yay! for a good outcome of the wedding. Given that the night before my sis was up doing the seating chart, yeah, sounds like my experience, but everything seems to work out in the end, even if it's not quite what one expected perhaps.

mmm... it's hard to get some guys to talk so a little drink and a reminder of new love is always a blissful feeling at a wedding. :D

R/S stuff? yeah, I think Jazzy covered all the ones I was thinking about.

You're welcome! Hope you had a fantastic birthday that involved much sinful food and all sorts of good stuff! :)

Not yet. We were really, really bad about taking pictures! I'll have to see if any of my cousins send them around digitally.

I've been meaning to let you know about the sling and it keeps slipping my mind- we'd actually be interested. Actually, Howard was delighted because we're not sure how much we'll use one, and getting one second-hand instead of paying full price is much, much better for us. How much should we send you for it? :)

And yup- Lost Years is high on my priority list!!!!

Thanks on both counts! I'll definitely head over there- I like Jazzy's recs most of the time!

Thanks! :) and from you, there's no WAY I mind self-pimpage! (Actually, I really appreciate it since I likely missed most fics at my rents, and you're one that I want to make sure I catch.)

And yeah- November is coming FAST!!!!

Yeah- hubby is not a talker or an expresser much :) His idea of showing love (which fortunately I'm smart enough to appreciate) is shoveling the driveway in the morning or taking out the trash without me saying a word, not flowers and compliments. It might not be romantic, but guess which one's generally more appreciated! :)

And yeah- that's been my experience with weddings too- everything works out in the end!

*beams* *feels loved*

Just curious--when is your due date? (Because the really neat thing is, I was almost exactly where you are 4 years ago, and 9 years ago. Except both of mine decided to delay their appearance until December. They are 6 days shy of being exactly 5 years apart.) You probably mentioned it before, but I'm a spazz and forget what I'm told. :-)

Heh. I actually don't really expect people to remember (it's not like he's going to show up that day anyway!). November 25. We've got a pool going. Mom's betting November 14 or 15, because that's when she's got this huge state-wide social studies test she needs to be present for (she teaches). My old neighbor is hoping for November 30, because that's his birthday. Hubby is guessing December 3, right before they would have to induce (or via induction), because he says I can't do anything on time, so having a baby shouldn't be an exception. (Thanks, hon!) And I say November 24 at 6PM, right when everyone wants to be at home sticking forks into turkeys :)

Eh - couple of bucks for shipping? You don't live very far - shall we say about $5? Is that okay with you? I have PayPal or you can mail it; it's not a big deal. You can email me with your address and I'll stick it in the mail, unless you want to try meeting somewhere?

*goes off to read your snippets*

Sounds good- I can mail it to you, if you like.

I'd love to meet somewhere, but I'm still carless, which is the only problem. You're more than welcome to come out here (I suspect you're not an axe murderer ;) ), but I know it's a hike from where you are- especially with the girls! Hopefully once I have my car back we can meet somewhere in the middle!

Too eerie--daughter was due November 30, born December 10. Son was due November 26, born December 4. :-) (Both, strangely enough, were Tuesday babies--"Monday's child is fair of face/Tuesday's child is full of grace...") Yeah, your little guy's got only about a 5% chance of showing up on his due date. If I were a betting woman... I'd say... December 2.

They'll induce if you're only one week late? Up here they let you go almost two. (My daughter was not induced, precisely, but we had to smoke her out. You probably don't want to hear about that one. My son behaved.)
