A follow-up from yesterday...

Can I just say there is a damn good reason I married the man I did? Hubby came home last night, and he had two things to say: 1.) that he was getting up with the baby every time tonight so I could sleep, and 2.) we needed to work out a better schedule for the week, because getting up every single time during the week was too hard on me and not fair. Bear in mind that (as far as I know) my husband doesn't read my LJ and while I'd told him I was exhausted, I hadn't said more than that. He also said he's going to watch Toby later today so I can go out somewhere, and some tomorrow so I can go grocery shopping. (I hate grocery shopping enough- stupid people in the grocery store. I really dont need to make it more painful by taking an infant.) He also then proceeded to order pizza so I didn't have to cook and open a bottle of really good wine, and sat down and listened to me talk about my insecurities as a mother and reassured me.

I so win. I've known this for a long time, but ever since the baby's been born Howard's behavior, consideration, and everything else has just driven home the point of what a fantastic man I married, and what a great choice I made. A friend from work told me that having a baby really makes you feel like you've become a team, and I can totally see what she means.

In other news, two quick recs. If you haven't seen [livejournal.com profile] nassima's holiday post cards, go see them, especially the one she made for me of Sirius and baby Harry. Also, I highly recommend checking out [livejournal.com profile] shaggydogstail's newest ficlet Loneliness and Lime Marmalade. Very nice R/S interactions, and neatly turning the inconsiderate!Sirius cliche right on its head.

Must scoot. Thanks to all who responded yesterday- it was VERY helpful- especially just to hear other people say "been there and survived!"

That's a gift -- a husband who listens, and figured out some of your needs this early and without you having to lay it out piece by piece for him. I'm really and truly happy for you.

Wonderful that you have him, and wonderful that you realize what a special guy he really is. Glad to see you might get some sleep, too!

See? Now we just need to convince more teenage girls that it's a good idea to date geeks, and we'll have fixed one of the big problems with this country. We really do make wonderful partners. Three cheers for Howard!
