Everyone else is doing it, and it looks like fun! So...

Ten Ways to Tell You're Reading a Story By Lissa

1.) A love affair with hyphens. But I've gotten better with them! Really!

2.) Eye color? What eye color? After ODing on stating eye color in my previous fandom, I almost go out of my way to avoid it now.

3.) Someone abuses the furniture. If there is a teenaged boy and a couch in the same story, he's guaranteed to be hanging upside down off of it.

4.) You want plot? I got plot. I've got too much plot. And I can work with anything. JKR tosses Remus into a den of rabid weasels and makes Sirius eat a banana cream pie while he laughs? I can still work it in. HA!

5.) Sex? Not much of it. Especially not in detail.

(Um, unless [livejournal.com profile] nassima's drawn something.)

6.) Erm, the lack of that "beta-ed by..." line. I know, I know.

7.) It's LONG.

8.) Minimal setting and description, maximum emotional explanation. Sometimes a little too little of the first, and sometimes a little too much of the second.

9.) The Brit-pickers would have a field day. (Although I've been improving there as well.)

10.) It can usually be set in the Accidentally In Love universe. Even if it is Neville gen. (Or Flitwick-Nott-Bryce WWII stories.)

That was fun :)

You know, I can't say you're that bad in your brit-ness, speaking as one. Occasionally I notice the odd slip up (I think you used the word dypers instead of nappies once, for example) but on the whole you're alright.
Like the list BTW. Very true, especially 8... it's one of the reasons why I like your work so much.

Thanks :)

I noticed the Brit-ness more in Deny Thy Father and earlier chapters of AIL. Somewhere along the line I got more conscious of it, so it's been improving. But I do still notice it every now and then. Being born and bred in upstate NY makes the Brit aspects difficult sometimes! (Although I can always tell when I've been talking to my next-door neighbor right before I've been writing.)

This just cracked me up. Eye color... those were the days, huh? :)

And the dangling off of the furniture is great. I wish I'd thought of it first, but you're right. That's vintage you. lol

Weird. I wasn't logged on. I'm never not logged on. Until now. Oh well.
