Looking for Recs

I'm trying to put together a rec list, just for my own amusement. Here's what I'm after:

-PLOT. PWP's get recced all the time. I'm after stuff that's deeper.
-Lesser known authors, or lesser-known works of the bigger authors.
-I've got a list of some of my favorites, but I'm hoping to add, and heck- I'd like to read a few good ones.

Anyone got some recs for me?

You may have already come across this one, but I swear, it just doesn't get the attention it deserves: lacylu42's Hair of the Dog (also on FA and a few others places). Every time I read it I have to stop myself from jumping in my car and driving down to Santa Fe to find me a Dandelion Boy. :)

I hope you find a good collection of stories. It's so hard to find new (good) things to read.

Sirius and/or Remus-based, but at this point I'll take:

REALLY good Remus/Snape
Anything gen but Marauder focused

And only cause it's you asking... good Harry/Ron, for my own personal enjoyment- especially if the focus is on plot. (I don't usually read much Harry because I'm eager for JKR's version. But Harry/Ron....)

Well, some good S/R on my own Recs list, which you've probably already read:

The Past is Mine by Cenori

Portrait in Charcoal by casirafics (which does have smut, but I like the drawing part beforehand just as much)

Pretty much anything by anniesj - again, much contains smut but I don't necessarily consider it PWP (except, perhaps, "Locked in a Closet")

Also, I think you might like Maternal Instinct, which is Lily-centered, but includes all the Marauders. And I think you might especially like it now. ;)

And two H/R recs on my own list:
Since Always - Ron is in denial; Hermione and Harry force him to see the truth.

Playing With Fire - one of the older H/R fics and a frequent rec. A reasonable progression of the boys' lives together through their seven years at Hogwarts.

You might consider perusing teaspoon_14's H/R recs as well. I recall liking Tarie's "Confessions," and "A Lacking in Foresight" although I haven't caught up on that one for awhile (this one is post-Hogwarts). "Confection Carnage" is PWP, but it's an innocent sort of PWP, if there is such a thing.

Well, I'm pimping two of mine:
Wedding Nerves (http://www.livejournal.com/users/magic_at_mungos/61982.html) and

The second is more shippy than the first but neither is *really* shippy. Both are one shots.

If I'm reading you correctly, probably we have the same tastes in fanfic.

Erm... the thing is, the really good Snupins (I've read, anyway) have bitter, mercenary sexual relations that is definately NC-17. Do you want this? Or are you going for something less. I'll do my Snupin recs in an LJ post, and link it to yours (around next week, after I've finished my course load) will that be okay?

I think topaz_eyes writes solid OoTP Remus/Sirius, and I think fleshdress writes a good Remus/Sirius too (in her earlier days, she was more into Sirius/Lucius before she took a hiatus from fandom).

Thanks! I haven't had a chance to read them yet (I was away all weekend), but I'll comment when I do. Definitely sounds fun- and authors I'm not familiar with are a good thing.

Well, let me put it this way :) I like a good NC-17 as much as anyone, so I'm totally game for the Snupin recs. I might not put them on this particular list, but that doesn't mean I don't want them, right? :)

I've been reading some of topaz_eyes's stuff and really enjoying it. Definitely nice. I'll have to check out fleshdress's stuff- at least the S/R. (Sirius/Lucius definitely does nothing for me.)

But yeah, given from what I've read from your essays in your LJ, we're porbably looking for very similar things. (And when you get a chance- I certainly understand the course load!!!!- I'm dying to see your Snupin recs, because our take on the relationship there is the same.)

I'm not trying to avoid NC-17 per se. There are parts of Accidentally In Love that border on NC-17. I'm just after a lot more plot than the sex for this list. But hey, if sex is included... ::shrugs:: oh well! :)
