Teething sucks. Toby's cut one tooth, and I think he's got a second coming. Either way, I think he's not feeling too good, and he's incredibly clingy today. Thank God he finally decided to take a nap (after crying himself to sleep while I did things that HAD to be done). Just one of those days where any time I put him down- even if I get down and play with him- he erupts into sobs.

Ironically, he will have nothing to do with a teething ring. Give him anything else and he'll stick it in his mouth. Give him a teething ring, and forget it.

I did post a fic the other day: For Educational Purposes Only. R/S smut, and PWP, sort of.

I should do something useful, like write or sweep the floors or even sleep. All I want to do is veg. :P

Did you ever try the vibrating teether? My girls were the same - they'd chew on almost anything they weren't supposed to, but didn't want any normal teether, not even the cold ones. But they both LOVED this thing.

Sounds like me. I waste an astonishing amount of time just 'vegging' during nap/evenings when there's tons of stuff I could/should be doing. Including sleeping. :-P

Vegging is a wonderful pastime. I highly reccommend it. :D

Teething is horrible. I don't envy you. Mine didn't like teething rings either -- not a one of them -- but you know what they would chew on? A baby toothbrush. My pediatrician recommended it. Of course, I'd sit there with them while they chewed because I was paranoid they'd gag on it. But it did seem to offer them relief.

I KNEW there was something else I wanted to look for when we went to Babys R Us this weekend! After his rejection of a teething ring that he could actually hold, I'll have to try that.

Well, I finally got the floors swept, and a whole half page of AIL 12 written today, so YAY! :) It is hard not to veg those times though, isn't it? Brain candy is required. :P (I forget- was it you that's reading Princess Diaries?)

Huh. That's interesting. Toby does seem to prefer harder plastic or cloth- soft plastic just doesn't do anything for him, I guess. I'll have to dig up the teething beads my Mom got him and try those again, but yeah- it's just bizarre.

Thanks! :)

Yep, that was me. I read through five Diaries (although not in precise order; I think I did 2, 3, 4, 1, 5 - I got away with that because I'd seen the first movie, and while it's not exactly the same, it did give me the general conceptual basis), courtesy of the library. Good, funny brain candy.

And yay for clean floors - I just swept and mopped, too. Sweeping I'd done fairly recently, but mopping was WAAAAAY overdue, and I'm having a couple of kids over to play on Friday.

This is reminding me - of course, I can't seem to find it online to explain what I mean, but we bought our younger daughter this toothbrush/gum massager kit for babies (had maybe 3-4 items in it). It includes some toothbrush-shaped objects that have little plastic/rubber nubs on the end instead of the usual bristles, for gum massaging. Also, the whole kit came with this wide ring that snapped onto the toothbrush about an inch below the head, preventing the baby from gagging himself, because he couldn't fit the handle into his mouth past that point. We were using it for oral stim for our daughter, but maybe Toby would like it to chew on? I'm thinking we bought it either at WalMart or Babies R Us.

Wow, I wish I'd seen something like that for my kids. That sounds perfect.

Here - I can't seem to find the toothbrush-only kit, which is what I have (this is the full baby-care shebang, same brand), but if you click on the image to see it magnified, you can see how the nubbly toothbrush has this wider spot just below the head, and there's this flat ring thing in the kit, too - that's where it snaps on. Slides down over the top, and *click*.

Oh, thanks for the link! My brother and sil just had a baby girl, and I think I'll get this for them. Maybe when she starts teething, it'll come in handy. :D
