Nap Part 2
Jun. 5th, 2006 03:59 pmOkay, I feel like shit. Toby did go down for a nap, and woke up after 15 minutes, just as I was running the water for a bath. I quick checked him, and thought everything was okay. So I said "fuck this, I NEED a half hour to myself, he's been fed, he's safe, he's fine... I'm taking a short bath." And when I got out, he was still crying. I went to get him... and his diaper had leaked. I SWEAR I checked it and I thought it was fine, but apparently not. Shit- he actually had a legitimate reason to be crying.
I hate parenting sometimes.

Date: 2006-06-06 09:45 am (UTC)Sure, a nappy leak is not brilliant, but it's not life-threatening either. A dead-tired, had-no-time-to-herself, stressed-out Mummy could be life threatening. Half an hour here and there will not make that much difference to Toby, but will make all the difference to you.
Parenting sucks humoungously sometimes, but the rest of the time it's the best, isn't it?! Hang in there, you're doing fine.

Date: 2006-06-06 10:55 am (UTC)Ditto everyone else. There is absolutely NO reason for you to feel guilty. Diapers leak sometimes. This one doesn't even register on the cosmic scale of parenting snafus, so do NOT beat yourself up over it.
(If you find he's leaking rather more than he used to, consider going to a larger size diaper. He's probably around the right age for that.)

Date: 2006-06-10 01:13 pm (UTC)We did just go up a size. It's entirely possible he had on one of the remaining 2s, because I wasn't going to waste half a pack of diapers!!!!
