Because everybody's wanking and I have no interest in the current topic and feel like complaining...

Things I can wank about:

1.) I have no time to read the good fic that may be on my flist.

2.) I haven't seen many recs. Are people still reccing? Especially R/S? The problem with R/S and some of the comms is there's a lot of great stuff out there... and a lot of not-so-great stuff. Plus, I think I'm really getting the "been there, done that" feeling. We need more creative stuff.

3.) TIME! I need time! I have an awesome idea for my challenge fics, and I have AIL, and I have that paper, and I have reviews....

4.) Writing Peter sometimes sucks, you know that? I'm at a critical juncture where he's making a move on someone (um, that's a move to lead them into a trap, not have sex), and it needs to seem like James, Lily, and Sirius aren't colassal idiots for continuing to trust Peter. It has to be obvious to the reader, but in such a way that it's understandable it's not obvious to the other three. :P And not THAT obvious to Remus, but Remus is allowed to be a little more suspicious. Especially when the scene is Sirius's POV. God, I would LOVE to re-write AIL from Peter's point of view, but that time thing....

After all, James and Sirius aren't Dumbledore. (Why yes, I did just read [livejournal.com profile] gehayi's spork at [livejournal.com profile] hbpspork

5.) Dieting SUCKS, and I'm sucking at it right now. :P

6.) God, I want a nap. The last two aren't HP-related, but they're true.

There. Six whines that make me feel a little better, even if there's nothing I can really do about several of them. (I might get the nap sometime today, I shall live through the dieting, and I'm going to come back to Peter's scene after writing another.

So vent. What's bugging you?

The biggest thing bugging me? That the first time I commented to this post and hit the button I lost internet access and had to reboot everything. Grrrrrrr.

I have no time to read the good fic that may be on my flist.

I have plenty of time this week, but stupid me didn't bookmark everything, so I have some searching to do.

I think I'm really getting the "been there, done that" feeling.

Which is why I haven't written much R/S as of late. I'm waiting for a fresh idea. And waiting.

Dieting SUCKS, and I'm sucking at it right now

I hear ya. When the kids left yesterday, I kind of went on a junk food binge. Comfort food. I'm going to control myself today, honest!

The biggesth thing bugging me? That TIME thing!
I have 4 exams next week which pretty much determine at least the next five years of my life and I have no motivation to do any work for them!

And because of said exams, I'm currently forced to be very boring and miss out on the parties my friends have arranged because their exams are already over. Grr.

In fact, the most interesting thing I've said all week is "And so I pruned his babies and dropped them out my window"...which was in relation to a plant which fell off my windowsill all over my bed.

Of course, fandom is consoling me with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] mina_de_malfois and the Charlotte Lennox story.

The links on [livejournal.com profile] sirius_centric seem to be good...

I haven't seen a new update from [livejournal.com profile] rs_prophet for a while. Then again, with R/S, it's pretty hard to think up new stuff when one partner is now dead. :-( And there's only so much re-hashing of MWPP years that can be done. Bah.

(Not venting, really, I'm at home with kidlet who got her head whacked with a dodgeball yesterday and has a concussion. She's in the middle of finals right now too. Hopefully she can make them up next week.)

whenever I feel like there's no good Remus or Sirius centric fics being posted, [livejournal.com profile] orange_crushed comes out of left field with something really quirky and original and perfect

good luck with the dietingnutrition research

Ugh, don;t you hate rebooting??? That IS annoying.

I have all kinds of R/S ideas. And all kinds of MWPP (more post-Hogwarts) ideas. I just need the time to write them, which is driving me nuts. :P And while my inlaws are now here taking care of Toby, I really should be writing my paper....

True, but I'd love to see some more AUs and some more post-Hogwarts, pre-1981 stuff that's good action/adventure stuff. That would be good. And there's tons of room for creativity in the GOF year, where Remus and Sirius could easily be together, at least for a bit. (There's absolutely nothing in canon that says they couldn't, at least some.)

And I hope your kidlet feels much better soon! I always hated dodgeball and thought it was barbaric.

Oh my. My f-list is unusually whiny today. It's BEAUTIFUL and SUMMER people!! What's there to be upset about?? (and this coming from someone who hasn't slept more than four hours straight in *weeks*

*ahem* That was MY wank.

As for Peter, I enjoyed writing him, although channeling all his insecurities inevitablely put me in a bad mood by the time I was done. Hmm...

And we'll whip you into shape for the dieting thing. Keep an eyeball out for my question on New Leaf.

A-Levels, so the grades will determine whih university I get to go to next year. 8 down, 6 to go!

(Though my last exam is right before my sister's graduation, so I'm having to miss that. I wouldn't mind too much generally, but Bill Bryson is going to be there making speeches)

Heh, then I probably shouldn't complain about being tired, huh? :)

It is beautiful and sunny out- I'm looking forward to going outside. I try to avoid going outside from 11-3 on days like this. Doesn't bother ME, but it does bother Toby.

And so for you, six little things I am happy about today, to balance the six whines.

1.) I just had cherries. Ripe, red, juicy cherries. God, I love summer.

2.) My in-laws were nice enough to come over and watch Toby for a few hours so I could try to get something done. Granted, my brain went to mush and I just reread Stealing Harry, but you know, maybe my brain is trying to tell me to relax more.

3.) I did get something of a nap this morning. I let Toby sleep on my shoulder and stretched out on the couch. There's nothing nicer than snuggling with my baby, unless hubby's there as well.

4.) Hubby won't be here tonight, which means after Toby goes to bed I can do whatever I want.

5.) I have an exciting project starting- I'm mentoring the girl next door. She's 10, and a really bright girl who feels like she doesn't fit in. She wants to do something academic this summer, but her parents also want her not to have anything TOO structured. So she's going to work with me for a while each week, and her mom is going to take Toby. She gets the stimulation, I get a break and get to converse on a level above 6 months, Toby gets used to someone else, and my neighbor gets her baby fix. I haven't decided what we're going to do yet, but that's only because I have too many ideas, not no ideas.

And she's a total Harry Potter junkie to top it off :) Although I suspect I shouldn't introduce her to fanfic!

6.) We're going to a playgroup tomorrow- our first time. I'm actually excited.

And, Oooh. Question. Like, actual discussion even? :)

If you want a fantastic MWPP fic, go read [livejournal.com profile] kennahijja's Among Wolves that she wrote for [livejournal.com profile] fleshdress' birthday. Simply astounding.

Kidlet's on the mend, should be fine in a couple of days. Oddly enough dodgeball's one of the few phys ed sports I remember fondly.

Gah! Eight years ago (ok, probably two, but whatever) I started a War-era Peter fic and never finished it. And now that I'm playing him I REALLY want to finish it. But yes...time. What is that anyway?

But I thought that maybe you'd like to see this site (http://leelau.net/chai/), which has a ton of pictures this guy took on his two year tour of the world. I don't know, I just thought a lot of the photos were breath-taking, and maybe you'd like them, since they reminded me of what Alphard or Lost Years!Remus might've seen while traveling. If nothing else, they'd be good reference for local clothing/architecture if you ever found time to do a Lost Years fic. I kind of want to go travelling after looking at them. Enjoy!

Have you read Alignments by magnetic_pole? I know this doesn't really help with allievating whine number 1, since this is a long, chaptered work, but it deals with the 1st war so very brilliantly and you must read it for PETER; the take on him in this fic is superb. Also it has loads of interesting minor characters and it chock full of incredible detail.. plus the take on the 1st war is original, different from what we are used to seeing. Highly recommend this..

And everyone wants a nap, don't worry =P
