Wow. Where did the morning go that it's almost 11? Sheesh.

I've been keeping my list of gen fics and R/S fics from [livejournal.com profile] reversathon going. It's been surprisingly easy, since there hasn't been that much in either category, relatively speaking.

Recs from this list are funny things, because frankly, the quality of everything I've read so far has been above average. There have been some pieces I didn't like, per se, but that doesn't mean they were bad. They just weren't my taste. However, I did really want to rec one piece, because it's been up for a few days and I'm a little horrified that so few people have commented. It's Special, a fairly short piece about Tom Riddle and the two kids he took down to the cave. Gen, and for once the author didn't leap to the "sexual molestation" explanation of why the two kids were never quite right again. And this version I can totally believe- it's one of those that makes you think "Gee, did JKR decide to join in this challenge?" I think the author needs as much counselling after writing this as the author of Let the Water Hold You Down does (Peter fic, also rather disturbing), but that's a compliment. Definitely don't miss this one.

Obviously that's why nobody commented, because of course it's not interesting without teh sexie kinks, eh? (Sorry, being cynical again.) It is indeed a good piece and an interesting explanation of Tom's activities (not least the suggestion that the cave was magical to begin with).

There have been some amazing fics over there and I find myself not able to keep up with them as I want to read them all! Sadly, I think the lack of kink does sometimes keep people from reading. Or perhaps, like me, they are too shy to comment in a comm they aren't participating in.

Cynical, yes, but right. :P

Yeah, I thought the idea that the cave was first of all old, and second of all magic was really interesting, too. I liked that, actually, because Voldemort doesn't really strike me as the architect type. I'm really wondering how the Founders and Grindewald play into this whole thing (because I suspect they do.)

Yeah, I have to admit I haven't gotten through all the ones I want to read, either! And my list is probably a lot shorter than yours, because if I remember correctly you like H/D? (I'm not at all a fan of that or Snarry, so it really cuts down on my reading list ;) ) My writer still hasn't posted for me yet, which is making me intensely curious as well!

That's the one thing about reccing from some of these challenges. Quality wise, so many of the fics are recworthy. It's nice, really!

I just wanted to say thank you. I haven't had any time to really look at most of the [livejournal.com profile] reversathon stuff yet and gen and r/s would be exactly what I would be hunting for there.

So I'll bookmark that link for later. :)

You're welcome! And I totally understand the time thing- that's largely why I'm doing it! :) (Notice how many of them say "I haven't read this one yet"....)
