Heh. JKR updated her site. I might have to try the W.O.M.B.A.T. test, except I should be cleaning frantically instead of taking a break, so we'll see. Two entertaining items though:

I was amused that she answered the question "Snape was there hiding under the Invisibility Cloak when the Potters died." I kind of like the theory that either Snape or Peter was there (I lean more towards Peter because I think Harry could easily recognize Snape's voice), but it never even occurred to me that he might be under the Invisibility Cloak. But note the way she answered that question does not preclude Snape being present at Godric's Hollow- it just means he wasn't Invisible.

And Regulus Black is not Stubby Boardman. This amused me solely because of [livejournal.com profile] shaggydogstail's universe. Personally, I think Regulus is deader than a doornail, and is probably an Inferi guarding the fake Horcrux that he put there. And I think Stubby is Stubby, and JKR just put that in to have some fun. But I really like Stubby/Sirius these days, it's utterly canon compliant, and I'm just so not into Blackcest myself.

So I am amused. And I am also looking at the clock and panicking. Back to cleaning!

best of luck clearning!

I don't find it a spoiler, and agree with you that Regulus was doomed and gone long ago.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I do hope that the voice telling Lily to take Harry and run is James's, though. A lot of my good opinion of him as an adult is built on that.

"Regulus was dead, to begin with. As dead as a doornail..."

You can imagine how relieved I am by this news. Not that I ever doubted that Stubby is his own man, but still.

JKR just put that in to have some fun.

She doesn't have half as much fun with him as I do. Or Sirius, for that matter.

Silly vague answer! I had a dinner riding on that one.

*nods in agreement*

If he turns out to be RAB, I think I would be a wee bit disappointed if Regulus is alive and in hiding. There is something, for me, to the Black brother's story that adds emotional resonance to their fight. The fact that they died for it adds more. It wasn't a fight either had to take up; their position was pretty secure and could have just remained on the edges. They didn't and I think that means something.

Though, of course, if he isn't and has a role in Book 7 I'm willing to readjust my viewpoint depending on what that role is.

Ohh, um that was a really long way of saying - yup, agree, very much dead. (I think my babbling is a sign that I should just call it a day from work.)

Could anyone possibly tell me how to take the W.O.M.B.A.T. test. I haven't been on JKRs site for ages and I have no idea how anything works anymore, lol. Any help would be brilliant!

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't think it is, but you never know!

I'm pretty sure it was James. The one I've assumed could have been Snape or Pettigrew (although I can't see either of them addressing Lily as "girl") is the one that tells Lily to step aside.

True enough!

I'm actually relieved that it's not Regulus, either. Aside from the fact that the timeline just really didn't work, it really undermines the coolness of Regulus if he's still alive. :P

Totally agree about the emotional resonance, and that's a much more eloquent way of saying it than "it makes Regulus less cool if he's still alive." Dead is really best in this case.

Unfortunately, I've yet to go over and try the test. Fiction Alley Park generally has some hints on how to do it!

We can't tell based on her answer! It does look as if I'm closer to dinner-win than my friend is, though. The 'why' of it matters.

Come on, JK-- elaborate! Do it for me; it's Thai food!
