Yay- Remix signups are open! You know you want to do it. I'm so excited for this challenge :) Of course, you never know what you'll get thrown (which is part of the fun). While my brain insists on outlining a remix of Stealing Harry or An Undying Passion for Cupcakes or something, watch in two weeks as I get an exclusive H/D shipper or something :) Or one of the other fandoms I said I'd write in. Heh. Lissa does Harry/Draco. I think that could be pretty funny, really, because it is SO not my ship.

Anyway. I had an interesting thought this morning. What became of James and Lily's house? I've seen fics where the wreckage is undisturbed, but you know what? I don't buy that. My theory? Mundungus Fletcher or the Ministry has cleaned it up a lot, put up a commemorative plaque, and charges Wizards and Witches 2 Sickles to tour the area. (I'm a cynic.) But it's where Voldemort fell (supposedly). It must be some sort of shrine or sacred area, or at least a tourist attraction. Wizards make something like pilgrimages there or something.

Of course, no one's ever told Harry, but who would have the stupidity to say, "Harry Potter? Hey, I toured the place where your parents died!" (Especially since the Creevys are Muggleborn?)

The odd thoughts that occupy my mind.

ETA: I'm hoping to have AIL 12 done by Friday, at the latest. Would someone be willing to read it over and get the grammatical mistakes, plus anything REALLY obvious that needs help? I hesitate to say beta, because I'd really prefer something lighter than a beta. It's going to be about 20 pages single spaced, TNR 10 pt font. :P Thanks!

I'm not sure what to think about the house. I still hope there's some essential information about that night that we don't know yet, information that would make it impossible to guess. Although the cynical part of me thinks it's been left in ruins so that Harry can have an emotion-laden visit there in the last book (the writerly equivalent of two Sickles at the door).

Are you all set on AIL? I can't do much due to time constraints this week, but then it sounds like that's all you need? magnetic-north at hotmail dot com Maggie

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if you're right. But you never know :P

I'm just about set on AIL. I'll send it to you when I'm done! Very, very light stuff. I don't use a beta for AIL just because the idea scares me, and right now the sole goal is to get it DONE. Before TDH comes out and blows me totally out of the water! I probably won't be ready to send until Friday, so no worries about time constraints this week! Thanks!

... watch in two weeks as I get an exclusive H/D shipper or something ...

Yeah, that would be one of the reasons why I'm scared of things like Remix, and why I don't usually sign up for challenges that pair you with a specific person unless they're gen-only. There are too many scary pairings out there...

There are! My list of pairings I'm willing to write usually is pretty small- R/S plus the canon pairings (one day I REALLY must finish that R/T fic I started ages ago). My pairings I'm willing to write unusually is pretty much anything in the same age grouping (I don't like cross gen unless the issues are handled well or they're old enough for it not to matter, like Remus/Minerva present day) or at the same place on the evilness meter (I could do Sirius/Kingsley (and should finish that one, too). Sirius/Snape baffles me.) But Remix is run by an R/S writer so it tends to attract a lot of R/S friendly authors, so my odds are pretty good. Plus, while you can't change the pairing, you can put the pairing aspects of a story on the backburner, and one of the qualifications is that you have to have 5 stories that actually have a plot.

However, if Remix was being run by, say, a big-name H/D shipper and attracted a lot of H/D writers, I really would have to think twice!

I am glad to hear that AIL12 is ready but I dread the moment. You said that they (r/s) are going to have some good times, apart from the darkness, given that there is more than a year until that fatal night, but I am afraid, judging by what you have said lately and by the little preview we had that this is not going to happen.

Heh. You know, you don't have to read it :) I'm not saying that to be mean, just... I worry a bit. We all know how AIL is going to end. (Although if I get [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge in the Remix, I am SO doing Stealing Harry with the AIL characterizations. But that's a very slim chance.) The point of AIL is how could 4 friends who were so close (and two of them lovers) come to the end they did? It's not gonna be pretty.

I do firmly believe Sirius didn't suspect Remus until the very end. And when he did, I think he had some good reasons for it. And there are some happy times coming up. (they seem to pop up in the even numbers. Hmmm.) But yes, there will be a lot of darkness: Benjy Fenwick, the Prewetts, and a few others all have to die, and so do James and Lily. Unfortunately, that's how the story goes.

So yeah, if you keep reading, brace yourself.

Sorry for the delay.

I know it is not going to be pretty! We all know the end of the story, unfortunately!

All i was saying is that I wish there were also some happy moments among everything else that is going on. I mean, yes, it ends badly, and things are getting darker and darker. But they could still have some fun!

And this is just my opinion, because you know how I love happy stuff. And I read AIl because it is good and because I can't wait to read that last chapter when they get together after POA. You are still going to write that, right?

AIL! Yay! I'm so excited to read it! I do dread seeing R/S being slowly ripped apart though. The ending is going to be so, so sad.

I know. I'm dreading doing it. I think that's why it's taking so long... it sucks! :)
