And I meant to reply to your post yesterday. I was raised on Sesame Street and my son loved it. I wish I still had all the Elmo & Friends tapes, I'd send them to you. I liked what krabapple said about TV still developing certain skills but in a different way. TV's never been a "babysitter" for us, but it has been a way to learn (PBS, History Channel), to explore other places (Animal Planet, Travel Channel), to share childhood favorites (Disney Channel), etc.

You'll find that for every time you said, "I'll never let my child...", there's a time you do. I think as long as you set limits and experience it together it's not too bad.

One of my playmates had a Mama and a Mommy so I understood same-sex relationships, though in very, very simple terms.

As I had no concept of 'roomate', my little brain made the jump that two people sharing a house must be married if they weren't related. Ah, child logic!

I love it when children's show writers throw in a few laughs for the parents, too.

The spouse and I spent yesterday watching our friend's eight-year-old son. Most of the day was spent at the park but in the evening we watched the animated series of 'Mr Bean' and one episode had an in-joke involving the opening credits of the live-action series. The poor kid couldn't figure out why those crazy grownups were laughing!
