Does anyone have any ideas of how to rob Westminster Abbey? Or failing that, a lesser-guarded place that there might be a minor and mysterious artifact? No, I'm not planning to supplement my post-doc salary as a catburgler, but Remus and Regulus would really, really, really like to know so I can finish part 8. Help a couple of wizards out?

I'll probably do the unfinished fic meme when I get home tonight, but I really don't know that I have that many unfinished fics. :P

Incognito. Go in disguised as law-abiding janitors, exit as rogue wizards-at-large. ;)

Oooh. I like incognito. That could work really well. Thanks!

I like the janitor idea, since they'd have a ready excuse as to why they were poking around. Another idea would be to dress in religious garb, though not to match the monks who give tours of the place (since they'd likely recognize each other). The question is - where is this artifact located? In one of the tombs under the floor? In one of the crypts? In the 'historical royal garment' display area? On/in one of the altars? How to rob the place would probably depend on where the item is, and how big it is.

I like the incognito idea, too. Especially since I'm starting to envision Remus mocking Regulus for even coming up with parts of it.

The artifact will be located wherever I can have them get to it with an appropriate amount of tension but I can figure it out easily :) I figure that it's not a big, Important artifact (because would you really send Remus and Regulus after it if you were Voldemort?), but something that's needed. They don't even need to know why. So I have a lot of flexibility in what it is. I chose Westminster Abbey because I can find a lot about it on the web.

Like my logic? :)

I've actually been to W. Abbey. Granted, it was in 2002 and not the late '70s, but I have a fairly clear picture in my mind, and I might even be able to dig up my tourist brochures/guidebooks about it somewhere, if you want more info. :)

Tag along as part of a tour group and have them accidently get seperated :)

Heh. Being that Regulus seems to have watched too many bad movies, they're attempting this at night. But I'm sure they'll swipe that idea later! Thanks!

Let them Apparate in the Abbey by night, get the artefact and Disapparate again. Locks can be dealt with using Alohamora, but maybe you need to invent a spell that prevents any alarms from going off.

This one I thought of. The problem is that they didn't really scope the place out. (Okay, the REAL problem is that was too easy for this first one.) That's what any normal, intelligent person would do. But these two together... yeah. Normal and intelligent doesn't quite fit. ::Sigh::

Okay, if you're going for complicated, why not let them go in as tourists, have them cast a disillusionment charm when the place closes to the public (so they wont be discovered and thrown out), and get the artefact between closing time and Evensong. After that they can Disapparate without a problem (but maybe some priest sees them just before they leave and takes them for the apparitions of some wayward saints?)

I was going to say - Liss - they're wizards! They can stun or petrificus any security guards, and even obliviate them. You can invent spells, and if you want to make it amusing, they can use funky spells in any attempts to circumvent muggle security alarms - like trying a silencing spell on the alarm if they accidentally set it off - or something like that. :) Good luck!
