Sorry about the squee, but [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux is live!!!!!

WHOOHOO!

Obviously I can't say what I wrote, but I did want to tell you what I originally wanted to do, because it leads into some more important commentary.

Remix is an interesting challenge, because instead of thinking about your remixee, you think about yourself. How would YOU have written that story if you had the same plotbunny?

My dream assignment was to get [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge, who I don't believe did Remix this year. I REALLY wanted to take "Stealing Harry" and write it with the AIL characterizations. I mean, think about the differences. Remus and Sirius would have previously had a relationship. Alex Sommers would be running around, probably as an on-again-off-again lover with Remus. Damien would have to be accounted for, because he's still alive in the AIL world. (and there wouldn't be any indestructible werewolves.) And when Sam read it, he probably would have said, "What the HELL?", because I'm pretty sure he's never read my stuff. But I would have had a blast, and it literally would have been how I wrote Stealing Harry.

So. Bearing that in mind, I introduce to you, The Fallacy of Hirsuteness (The HJ Hughes Remix). First of all, I AM psychic. And secondly, [livejournal.com profile] gunderpants, I am SO looking at you.

Not long before the deadline, I saw an entry in [livejournal.com profile] gunderpants's journal describing the fic she was remixing as "lovely, simple, and sincere." Those are the words most commonly used when people review "The Fallacy of Loneliness", so I immediately thought that might be what she was remixng. (I did offer to beta anyway.) And what do you know? The Fallacy of Loneliness is the story my remixer chose. What makes me think it's Gun?

Sirius is pulling a Howard Hughes, right down to the jars of urine and the Spruce Polyjuice. (Or at least, what I know of Howard Hughes from watching the Simpsons.)

If this person isn't Gun, hie thee to her journal and get to know her, because you two would hit it off brilliantly.

Anyway, the remix is terribly funny and mostly gen, with a few nods towards R/S. And everyone should read it and leave lots of feedback, because this really is what Remix is about. This is two people writing the same exact premise from TOTALLY different angles. I mean, one is me writing angsty Sirius at 12 GP stuff until a really nice neighbor inadvertantly nudged me out of my lonely depression by giving me fresh tomatoes, and the remix is Remus smacking a loony Sirius upside the head. But they both include one key element: pie.

So go read. Pie is always good.
