So, yeah. I've got one freaking scene to finish in AIL 13, and a section title to come up with, then it's off and away to be proofed. I don't think I'll get it back and modified before we leave, so look for it Monday. That's good anyway- after the big Remix reveal.

But in procrastinating finishing that last scene, which is hard because I already wrote something VERY similar in Though I Speak with the Tongues of Men and Angels... let's talk TV :)

Dear Lost writers,

Okay, I'm really getting frustrated. You need to start answering questions- not throwing more at us. And who the daddy of Sun's baby was? That didn't count.

Honestly, it HAD to have been Jin. When Sun realized she was pregnant, they'd been on the island for 80 something days, I think. (Maybe 70.) First of all, she'd been there long enough that, unless she had a REALLY erratic cycle, she should have realized that she was either pregnant before then, or not. (Incidentally, she slept with Baldy over 90 days prior to the sonogram. Baby was 58 days old. I know she was under a ton of stress, but I think that she should have had her period in there.) Secondly, if the baby had been baldy's, given how freaking SKINNY Sun is, you'd think she'd be showing a bit by now, wouldn't you? Plus, add in the Locke and Rose cures, and yeah. It had to be Jin. Which IS nice. But still.

Anyway, that's NOT a major question. First season, yes. It would have qualified. But "who's the father of Sun's baby?" has significantly dropped in importance next to "Who the hell are the Others?" and "How do they know so much about the castaways?" and "Where do they get off killing them and tormenting them?" and "How did Popeye survive?" and "What the hell is going on?" And don't forget the smoke monster. So, what I'm saying is, the fact they found Flight 815 and there were no survivors? That had better be explained in better detail next week, or it's just really getting to be too much. (Also, writers? If you want us to believe the Purgatory theory is wrong, you might want to try not playing right into it.)

::sigh:: I have no theories- I'm afraid to think TOO hard about it. For one, I find that it hurts my head. But for two, I also find that getting attached to a theory and then having it be wrong kind of dulls the fun for me. I'm just along for the ride on this one.

But Charlie was really annoying me last night, which is a shame because I really do like him.

My theory on Juliet is that she's Snape's long lost, much better looking sister. Juliet wants off the island, and in the end she's going to do whatever it takes to get her off the island and back home to her sister. Right now, she thinks her best chances are with Ben. (I can see why she thinks this.) But I think that if someone else offered her the chance to get off, she would very happily screw Ben over to get home. I somehow doubt this is a revolutionary theory where Juliet is concerned.

Anyway. That's my diatribe on Lost.

So now we've just finished Slayerfest (fifth episode of the third season). I am still loving the series. I like that there are actually consequences to people's actions that echo through each episode. I really liked that when Buffy ran away, people didn't just miss her and then kiss her feet when she came back- their feelings were much more complicated than that. I really like how they write young people in general.

I am understanding the fandom's love of Spike. Not that I find him sympathetic- I don't tend to find people who would think of me as a "Happy Meal on legs" sympathetic, as a rule. But I find him fun to watch. I remain baffled as to why fandom keeps confusing him and Draco. Aside from the platinum blond hair and the racist attitudes, they're N.O.T.H.I.N.G. alike. People confuse me.

However, as much as I am enjoying Spike, I think some days I like Mr. Trick even more. Mr. Trick is a fun villian. :)

I am also a little more sympathetic (but not totally) to the HP fandom's insistence that Remus and Giles are the same person. They both appear mild mannered, but fuck with them or someone they love and they'll kill you... and sleep well that night. That is a fundamental similarity between them. However, that's really the only similarity. At least I've never seen a fic where Remus got all excited about finger sandwiches, which totally amused me. I actually find Giles's dual personality a little unbelievable- that a man who used to be such a rebel is into such uptight things these days. Of course, he was a geek rebel, but still. But it works anyway, because his prissy demeanor plays off the kids very well.

It's funny. For all I've had people say I'm a slasher, I'm really not that much of one. I was thinking about what my favorite ships are in series in general, and the only one that's not canon, much less not het, is Remus/Sirius. So, because I'm bored, other favorite ships.

Harry Potter

My favorite canon Harry Potter ship is TOTALLY Arthur/Molly. I love Arthur and Molly. I know a lot of people don't share my Molly love, but she reminds me so much of my own mother....

I like Lily/James and Frank/Alice as well, but we know so little about them. I love Lucius/Narcissa when [livejournal.com profile] buttfacemakani is doing the drawing.

The kid-ships, I don't really care. I've always assumed Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny. I don't like aspects of how either of them were brought to be in HBP, but I don't find them objectionable in terms of ideas. I liked the idea of Neville/Luna because Neville has the kind of quiet strength I think Luna needs, but I'm fine with the idea of no Neville/Luna, either. (Actually, very fine with that since it keeps the Noah's Ark thing from happening too totally.)

Lost

Originally, Charlie/Claire was my favorite ship, but Charlie's been awfully clingy and that bothers me. I mean, getting to the point of obsessive. Ironically, that was what I didn't originally like about Jin/Sun, and now that they're doing better and reconnecting, they're taking the place as my favorite. (Jin/Sun also has the disadvantage of infidelity, but Sun did go a long way in my estimtion by deciding to stay with Jin and make things work. Of course, now she doesn't have a choice, but still.) And of course, Rose/Bernard is adorable.

Nikki/Paulo didn't bug me, except their ham-handed introduction into the series. I wouldn't have even minded if they'd done something interesting.

Kate/Sawyer/Jack bores me to tears, because the only one of the triangle I really like is Sawyer. But Jack/Juliet is surprisingly working for me.

And Hurley/Libby was just really, really sweet.

West Wing

My OTP? Jed/Abby. All the way. Number one.
Number 2 (and very close) is Danny/CJ.
Number 3 is Charlie/Zoe.
Number 4 might be the only other fanon pairing I like- I can't remember if they ever got together. But Sam/Ainsley.
And a distant number 5 is Josh/Donna.

I know, I know. I've got to be one of the few that feels that way. But I always thought that Donna was too good for Josh, and he didn't really convince me that I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I like Josh as a character. But I wouldn't want my sister to date him.

Maybe I should stop procrastinating and finish this scene. Fine.
