DH and AIL

Well. I didn't really expect what happened, from a fic point of view.

First of all, Remus/Sirius remained untouched, because 16-year-old Sirius putting up posters of Muggle bikini girls to tick off his mum is just funny, no matter what you believe, and marriage was clearly not a cure-all for Remus's issues. So, yeah.

Secondly, there were three categories of things JKR could write differently than I'd written:

1.) Things that I have written in the past that have no effect on the plot remaining in AIL. These would be things like James and Lily's birthdays, Regulus, and the scene on the train. Yes, they're different from my canon, but I'm done with them in my story.

2.) Things that I have written that do still affect the plot of AIL. These are things like the careers of Sirius and the others, an introduction of Remus's parents, etc.

3.) Things that I haven't written that affect the plot of AIL. These would be things like Harry's first birthday and 1981 in general.

Anything in #2 might have shut me down. #1 I am indifferent to, and #3 doesn't phase me because I can adapt. So, wow. I remain largely un-jossed.

I am in shock, but it's a good kind.

However, speaking of Joss-ing, I need to finish my article on female characters in Whedon work, and why they are awesome. Does anyone have any favorite Whedon sites, incidentally, that they can point me to for pimping purposes?

You were on my mind when I was reading about Kreacher/Regulus. I was thinking you would probably like how he was written.

I really did! Truthfully, I always assumed that if anyone helped Regulus it was Kreacher, not Remus. But it was fun to add in, and it's not like Remus was ever going to remember it anyway!

There were several moments when I was reading that I though of AIL because, to me, it's the version that fits the best into canon, and I was happy to see that it remains fairly un-jossed. Whee!

Aww, thanks! I was delighted (and amazed), too. And it means I can carry on! Now, all I have to do is finish before this baby gets here....

I was actually completely ecstatic to find that AIL was still, as you put it 'un-jossed' =]
I think I'm always going to imagine AIL as canon now, haha.
I was a bit disappointed that Remus helping Regulus at the cave was blown out of the water because I absolutely adored it, but I was expecting it and I loved how well JK wrote that scene so much that I didn't mind at all.
On Sirius and the scantily-clad Muggle posters - you wrote Sirius as figuring out he was gay after he left his parents house in any case, so apart from it being just plain funny, it also still sticks with AIL.
And do you know I completely forgot about 2). I was sure I had read that JK said somewhere that James and Lily's careers played quite a part in DH and it didn't even come up at all. I keep remembering details that JK didn't put in and it's made me realise that (thank goodness) this still leaves quite a bit of leeway for fandom if people still have the inclination to carry on with it now the series is over *hopes*

Thanks!

Yeah, I felt the same about Regulus. I was really expecting it to be Kreacher that helped him though, if anyone did. Although the death by Inferi-drowning was really freaky!

Sirius didn't bother me at all. In fact, the only thing it makes me want to do is go back and insert a scene where Sirius gets the posters and hangs them :) I won't, but I think that concept is really, really funny. And yeah, he figured out he was gay at 17 in my universe, so this had no impact at all.

I think you're right about James and Lily's careers- I could swear I remember her saying that too. But I'm glad she didn't state it! :)

Surely you must be aware of this, but just in case...
