Still Canon After All These Years?

It's always a happy day when I have something tasty I made for lunch. I just had the best chicken and andouille sausage jambalaya. Yum.

I saw this on snorkackcatcher's journal, so I thought I'd play. Plus, maybe it will get me to update my list. No, it won't, because I'm not going to do them all.



So much of my stuff is Remus/Sirius, and I consider that pretty much untouched, especially since I never did any Bring Black Back stuff. So a lot of it isn't really worth discussing, since we found out so little about the relevant time period. But here we go...

Deny Thy Father Deny Thy Father suffered more from the Black family tapestry than the book. The big points that really got hit were Sirius's parents' names and Regulus's age. I won't bother to go back and change anything, though, because changing Regulus's age requires more rewrites than I feel like doing. Plus, it's done, it's been done, and the REAL points- Sirius's motivation for leaving and his friendship with the others- remain the same. Although I wouldn't mind including the scene of him hanging the bikini girls.

Mentors It's a correspondence between Remus and Alphard. It was SO canon anyway. :) The big thing here is that I made Remus gay, not bi, as canon would now require. But you know, he can come to the realization that he's bi later.

Azkaban Tango I'm not sure I really like this fic. Incidentally, the Death Eaters that you see talking are: a random Death Eater that got put in Azkaban by Moody, the Death Eater that took down the Prewett brothers, the Potions teacher (obviously not canon as Slughorn is running around in his jammies), Sirius, whichever Lestange married Bellatrix (I forget which), and Tina Lovegood.

Accio Bananas Well, can you find anything in canon that says this DIDN'T happen?

Happiness Where I Can Find It, Part 1. Not only do I have continued support for where I wanted this fic to go, I have the serious urge to pick it up, edit the beginning so it's compatible with the AIL universe, and take it through to Remus and Tonks's deaths. I mean, the way I see R/T playing out in DH was that there was a lot of mess and stress and strain, but that eventually Remus came around because he was making the decision to be happy about it. The Bill-Remus friendship seems to be supported, and I would LOVE to write Remus dealing with his in-laws, a conversation between Remus and Ron around Christmas, and come on, you KNOW Damien Lupin needs to come back into this. (And yes, I'm now totally shipping Damien/Andromeda. What did you think?) I really think I will finish this one now.

Come Talk to Me. What really got this one was Half-Blood Prince, but the details are so minor I don't care.

A Boy Thing Still gleefully canon compliant.

The Need to Apologize. Sirius and Aunt Marge meeting. Hehehe. With the mention of the vase Petunia sent Lily at a late Christmas, this one actually gained canonical support.

Chasing Dragons. I only bothered to list this one because I still really like it. Since Charlie Weasley was barely mentioned in the book, it still stands.

We Could Be Heroes. I never meant for it to be canon, but I just wanted to point it out again anyway :)

Of course, my two AUs Just Forget the World and Let the Water Hold You Down are just that, AUs, so they were never meant to be canon compliant.

All in all, not bad!
