Oh boy oh boy! :)
Jul. 30th, 2007 02:49 pmSo yeah. On with life.
Well, the news is in! We had the 20 week sonogram. Everything looks good, and we're having another boy! I have to admit, I'm thrilled. I would have been very happy either way, but I was kind of hoping for another little boy. It just... felt right to me. Like I said, the important bit was the healthy bit, but still. It made me really happy :)
October is coming FAST. Why is October important? We're moving Toby out of the nursery and into a new room. Eek. That also means a new bed.
So, right now I'm trying to figure out how to paint his new room. On the one hand, it's easy: trucks, planes, cars, trains... anything with an engine. He truly loves these sorts of things, and I suspect he will for several years. Sure, eventually he'll grow out of it and we can paint over it as he gets older, but if I don't make it too whimsical and baby-ish, it should last him into his 8s and 9s, I might guess. The only thing is, I'm not sure quite how to do it.
The room isn't a perfect square. It has 5 walls- one of which is mostly door, another of which is a huge window. One thought is to paint a city-scape on one wall (with a firehouse and firetruck in the foreground), a train on the small wall (has the closet), snaking down out of the horizon, and a construction site on the third wall (with diggers and dump trucks), and then just paint the door wall and the window wall sky blue. The only thing I worry about is that the disjointed scenes will be too disorienting. So, the other obvious thought is to make the scene go around the room. Maybe something like this (click on the train to see the mural). We'll see. It can't be TOO complicated.
But, speaking of, Toby is awake. Already! Sheesh- I was hoping he'd sleep until 3:30 or so. :P Oh well.
Oh! And for all who might be interested, MRFH is doing Whedon Week this week! Enjoy!

Date: 2007-08-01 01:57 am (UTC)Actually, I'm planning on painting, although I have to get moving SOON, if we're going to be done by October. Probably not as elaborate as what the pictures were, though, but I liked some of the ideas from them.

Date: 2007-07-31 12:24 am (UTC)Are you planning to paint Toby's room yourself? I have a friend who used wall stickers to do a planes, trains, and automobiles mural in her son's room. It turned out really well. Here's the site she used. I'm sure what ever you decide will work out well.

Date: 2007-08-01 01:59 am (UTC)Yeah, I was planning to do it myself. I think he'll be into trains and other vehicles for enough years to justify it. Thanks for the site link!
