You know, some days I just shouldn't go over to FAP. It raises my blood pressure far too much. Between ship threads and anti-ship threads, I just... sigh. I mean, I can actually understand anti-ship threads for any canon ship, but I really don't like them much for non-canon ships. Why? Because if you don't like the ship, don't read the fic. Duh. I mean, I really don't get a LOT of ships, but I don't bash them. I just don't read them. See how easy that is? (Canon ships I don't mind because you can't avoid them, but I prefer to only attack them how JKR wrote them.)

Anyway. I'm procrastinating, so... gacked from [livejournal.com profile] krabapple,

The Books in Order from Favorite to Least Favorite
1. Order of the Phoenix
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
3. Goblet of Fire
4. Deathly Hallows (I would like to note that 2, 3, and 4 could change places at any given moment. I also think that OotP was not the best written of the books- I just liked it the best.)
5. Sorcerer's Stone
6. Chamber of Secrets
7. Half-Blood Prince (6 and 7 are also interchangeable at times.)

Number of Times You Have Read the Series:
The whole series? Once. I've only read HBP and DH once so far. (Hubby currently has DH, and I really ought to reread HBP now.)

Favorite Chapter from Your Favorite Book:
Career Counseling! McG vs. Umbridge is just the best- and one of the reasons OotP is my favorite book.

Five Favorite Characters:
Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Neville Longbottom

Three Least Favorite Characters:
Dobby, Grawp, Draco

Favorite Member of the Trio:
Ron :)

Three Favorite Magical Creatures:
I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] krapabble on this: Nifflers, thestrals, and hippogryffs!

Favorite Family:
I adore the Weasleys, but I'd like to think the Potters would have been nice, too.

Favorite Villain:
UMBRIDGE! Tell me you don't know someone like her. Voldie's always been a little too Evil Overlord for my taste. I also really liked Lockhart, if he counts as a villain.

Favorite Death Eater:
The problem with the Death Eaters is none of them are as much fun to hate as Umbridge. I guess Barty Crouch, Jr., because for once, he was actually a worthy advesary of a 14 year old wizard.

Favorite Non-Hogwarts Magical Building:
I would love to visit the Burrow.

Favorite Diagon Alley Location:
The ice cream shop! :)

Three Favorite Spells:
What I would not give for an Accio spell. Seriously. I also would love to be able to do Wingardium Leviosa and a memory charm :)

Three Favorite Potions:
Veritaserum, Polyjuice, and Skele-grow.

Favorite Unforgivable Curse:
Imperio. I think that was her most creative and insightful.

Favorite Department of Mysteries Room:
The Time Turner room

Biggest Surprise:
"Anything in the climax of PoA. The identity of the Marauders, the secret keeper switch, Pettigrew, the animagus stuff -- all terrific." Quoted from [livejournal.com profile] krabapple because she is a wise woman.

Biggest Letdown:
Honestly? I was very disappointed when I found out Remus/Sirius was definitely not canon. (For the record, I don't think JKR was trying to "degay" either of them or had pressure or anything. I think she just had other plans. I never believed it MUST be canon, but I believed it really could be.)

Beyond that, Peter's death.

Favorite Mode of Transportation:
Hippogriff

Favorite Weasley:
Ron, if I have to pick!

Favorite Order Member:
I do honestly love Moody.

Favorite pet:
Trevor :)

One Character You'd Bring Back to Life:
Tonks. I could see the point of Sirius's death, and of Remus's, and dude, Dumbledore was marked from the beginning. And even though I cried when she killed Moody, it was how he wanted to die. A Weasley had to go. But I would have liked to see Tonks fight in the battle and survive, and be able to go on.

Moment That Will Always Make You Cry:
Meeting Neville's parents.

Favorite Hogwarts Room:
Prefect's Bathroom. I want that tub!

Favorite Class:
Transfiguration

Favorite Teacher:
McG. Yes, even over Lupin.

Favorite DADA teacher:
Well, that I would like to have, Lupin. Or Moody, even if he was a fake. As a character? Umbridge.

Least Favorite Teacher:
Binns. Although he was as boring as he was meant to be!

Favorite Non-Human Hogwarts Resident:
Sir Cadagon

Favorite Hogsmeade Location:
Honeydukes!

Favorite Triwizard Champion:
Not counting Harry, Viktor

Favorite Triwizard Task:
The dragons.

Which Character You'd Ask to the Yule Ball:
Assuming I wasn't married? Bill Weasley.

Which Character You'd Like to Use a Love Potion On:
See the above answer.

Which Character You'd Like to Use Veritaserum On:
Petunia or Dumbledore.

How Long You Have Been a HP Fan:
Don't want to think about it.

Favorite Wizard Rock Band:
None.

Number of Midnight Releases You Have Attended:
None

Favorite HP Website:
I guess the Lexicon or Fiction Alley.

Most Ridiculous Potter Theory You've Heard:
Probably the Lupin being James one.

Character You're Most Like:
Molly Weasley.

House You Think You'd Be Sorted Into:
I always assumed Ravenclaw, because I have a Ph.D. My youth group kids put me in Slytherin, for even being bothered to get a Ph.D.

Your Patronus Would Be A:
Tree. Whomping willow, maybe :) What? Where does it say they all have to be animals? But the reason for it is my dad and his buddy had these jokes about trees. (Dad was more of a conservationist and his best friend had a love affair with his chain saw.)

To You, Amortentia Would Smell Like:
Dove soap, our laundry detergent, and a hint of diesel

You'd Use Felix Felicis To:
Have a VBAC with this baby or potty train Toby :)

The Job You Would Most Like to Try:
Curse breaker!

Which You Would Rather See --- a Sequel or a Prequel:
Honestly? neither. I felt pretty wrapped up. But more of a prequel- I'd love a book of Dumbledore.

The Movies in Order from Favorite to Least Favorite:
5,3,4,2,1

EITHER/OR...

Animagus or Metamorphmagus: Animagus

Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans or Chocolate Frogs: Frogs. Definitely.

Black or Lupin: Both, but Black.

CAPSLOCK HARRY or Emo!Harry: CAPSLOCK HARRY. Very teenager.

Death Eaters or Dumbledore's Army: Dumbledore's Army. Dude, when a bunch of 15 year olds can kick your asses, you're a pretty pathetic evil organization.

Draco or Lucius: Narcissa.

Durmstrang or Beaubaxtons: Durmstrong. It's cool up there, and fur robes hide bulges better than silk.

Floo powder or Broom: Broom.

Fred or George: Fred?

Grimmauld Place or The Burrow: The Burrow!

Herbology or Care of Magical Creatures: Magical creatures. I can't even keep regular plants alive.

Hippogriffs or Thestrals: Thestrals.

Invisibility cloak or Pensieve: Invisibility cloak.

Mermish or Parselmouth: Mermish

Occlumency or Legilimency: Legilimency

Peeves or Nearly Headless Nick: Nick, hands down.

Peter Pettigrew or Mundungus Fletcher: As a character, Pettigrew is more interesting.

Professor Binns or Professor Umbridge: As a character, Umbridge. As a prof, Binns.

S.P.E.W or the Inquisitorial Squad: S.P.E.W.

The Ministry of Magic or Gringotts: The Ministry of Magic.

Three Broomsticks or The Leaky Cauldron: Three Broomsticks.

Werewolf or Inferus: Werewolf

Whomping Willow or Flying Ford Anglia: Flying car!

Yule Ball or Quidditch Championship: If I went with Bill as per above question, Yule Ball. If I went with Howard, Quidditch Championship. (Hubby doesn't dance much, but I do like to dress up. :) )

Umbridge is one of my favourite fictional villains ever, I think, and Imelda Staunton did a dead-on depiction of her in the movie.

and I still maintain that the books don't make it certain that R/S could never have happened.

Imelda Staunton ran away with the movie! She was perfect, even if she was a little too attractive :)

I agree that the books don't remotely make it so R/S could never have happened. I just think the R/T made it clear that JKR wasn't thinking that direction, even though she very nicely left it open for us fanficcers :)

In an interview I saw a few weeks ago, she indicated that R/T essentially happened because she needed to off a father figure because she spared Arthur in OotP, so I'm guessing she didn't really plan it so much as they were just about the only characters available for it. Shameful waste of interesting characters, too!

When did we find out that Remus/Sirius was "definitely not canon"? Was it an interview or something?

From: [identity profile] lls-mutant.livejournal.com
Oh God, I hope it's never in an interview! I hope she never even touches it.

I assumed when JKR went R/T that R/S was not canon in her head. It's still certainly very canon compatible, but I think, for me (even though I happily maintain that Remus could be bi), that was when I had to say, "no, she didn't write R/S."

Doesn't stop me from shipping it. Doesn't stop me from insisting it could have happened. Doesn't stop me from writing it. But it does stop me from thinking she intended it. :P Maybe I'm wrong, though. It wouldn't be the first time! :)

Oh I really hope she did intend it. Just a little. And subtley mentions it in an interview so we can ship to our hearts content...but I find it unlikely.

As long as she doesn't touch it though I can carry on reading the books and fic as though it actually happened =]
