Yeah, I've been quiet. A combination of busy and tired, but no baby yet.

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year. No, I'm not totally bonkers :) It actually wasn't bad. I made the munchies (okay, for the most part I bought the munchies- I'm not making my own spinach and artichoke dip when everytime I put out the TGIFriday's stuff people ask for the recipe), the turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and cheesecake. My SIL brought the stuffing and pies and salad, and MIL brought the Stovetop and cranberry sauce. I did a lot of make-ahead recipes, so aside from the turkey and the gravy, I did very little cooking on the actual day. Plus, my parents came down, and my mom was a HUGE help. She did comment on how few of the others helped, though, which sort of amused me. Hubby helped a LOT, and my MIL is completely off the hook because she's been in a lot of pain recently, and kept offering but we kept insisting she sit. But my mom noted that my BIL and SIL showed up right before dinner, and my other SIL didn't even offer. Which was really no big deal, honestly- I don't take on a dinner like this expecting tons of help. But she was sort of amused... and worn out by the end!

Anyway, T-day was nice enough, although Toby had a major tantrum when people started showing up. He just freaked out :P Fortunately, though, he didn't for his birthday party. We had his second birthday party (family only) on Saturday, and I can't believe he's going to be 2! We ordered everything so I could go shopping with my mom and enjoy life on Friday, and the cake was perfect. It had plastic construction vehicles on it, and he plays with them constantly. He really cleaned up on presents- this kid is going to be SOOOOO spoiled this month. ::Sigh:: It was fun, but I have to admit I was glad when it was all over.

Got our first Christmas card yesterday- thanks [livejournal.com profile] aome! It was adorable :)

I've been trying to get all my Christmas shopping and stuff done before the 14th, or at least as much as possible. It's exhausting, but we're getting there. I also need to type up address labels for Christmas cards (my hands hurt too much to write, and I'm sure the post office will thank me anyway), and be pretty much ready to order once we get home. Our cards won't make it out on time, I don't think, because we're going to put pictures of the new baby in them, but oh well.

Speaking of the new baby, had a doctor's appointment yesterday. C-section is sounding more attractive, as the doctor thinks this baby might already be 8 pounds. Freaks me out a little, especially since she commented my urine sugar was high. (it was last time, too, but that doctor assured me that the blood tests were so good it couldn't be gestational diabetes.) I worry, though. But if she's right that it's a big baby, C-section sounds safer in terms of uterine rupture because of my previous C. I have one scheduled already, but if I go into labor before that I might haul my butt down to the hospital in time for the C-section over the VBAC. However, doc did admit she isn't very good at estimating weights, so we'll see what the doctor next week says, too. The whole thing is just getting to me, and I'll just be glad to be on the other side of this one.

Other news- we're using the big boy bed! Yay!

I do have a lot of writing I'd like to get done before the baby is here, too. I have to review Hot Fuzz, and I'd like to do a review of Rome (we have one more episode left in the second season). I need to do my Small Gift, and I also would really like to post Chapter 14 of AIL, because it's pretty much done. I just need time! And energy ;)

Not much else, really. Holding pattern. Hope all is well with all of you!

Congrats on the successful Big Boy Bed! And you're the first one to receive the card/giftie - glad you liked it. I had a lot of fun making them. :)

Thanks on both counts! They were really cute, btw :) And I'm glad I picked the character I did, since it will look perfect on the Christmas tree :)

Mmm. . .just reading that made me hungry all over again!

It sounds as if things are going really well for you, and I'm very glad to hear it. I want to send you a card as well -- would you put your address on my holiday card post on my journal, please? My address book is somewhere in one of the many boxes of stuff I need to unpack! I still think of those luscious caramels you sent last year -- they were divine!

Ah, I shall do that! Thanks :)

Mmmm. Those caramels. One thing that makes me sad is I can't make them this year. :( There's just no way I have the time. But I suppose that's just as well, given how many I ate myself! :)

Great news on the big boy bed! I'll send some extra energy and time your way. I'm a huge fan of AIL and can't wait for more!

Yay for the big boy bed!

For what it's worth, I opted for C-sections with all 3 of mine and don't regret it a bit. Well, the first wasn't an option. He was 7lb 11oz and went into fetal distress because he was too big for me. They *thought* the next two were bigger and thought right. 8lb 6oz and 8lb 10oz respecively. I did go into labor with the last one before scheduled and I did head on up early to get her out.

Thanks! I'll tell you, the C-section is sounding more and more attractive. I've heard rumors that the recovery from planned C's are often easier than the recovery from emergency, which makes me even more willing. (I recovered fast last time.)
