Also, another world building question. If you see religion in a fantasy world, do you feel gypped if the god/gods never make an appearance? I'm planning on having religion, and it's quite important in that there are two different ones and they have some very different structures. But I plan on treating it like religion on Earth. Some people are very religious, others are not, and no one knows who's right because if there are signs from the god/gods, they tend towards the subtle.
If this was not a fantasy novel, I wouldn't even think of asking. But the appearance of gods seems like a fantasy standard if you're going to use religion.
