Why do I post certain places? Why?

No, [livejournal.com profile] werewolf_lib, it's not That Site these days. It's a site that SHOULD make sense... Weight Watchers.

Specifically, the New Moms board.

Honestly, there are a lot of great people that use the boards, which is the answer for why I do it. But there is a hive of exceedingly catty, cliquey women that dominate the New Moms board. God forbid an innocent newbie wanders in and asks a question or makes a statement they don't approve of. It's not like these women (mostly women) even attack the old clique- they just ask a question or respond to one and wow- out come the claws.

I should just walk away. But a lot of it is the principle. This is a Weight Watchers owned site. It is there to provide support to members who want to lose weight. Why should I let a bunch of mean cats chase me away because I'm not one of their crowd? Why should they get to fucking push anyone around?

Ignore people. That's fine with me. That's A-OK. But damn it, mocking people who actually have a legitimate question or issue or (god forbid) want to discuss losing weight when you have young ones in the house... it's just plain mean and I feel like I shouldn't have to kowtow or let them win.

But no. That's not right either. Because dude, weight loss is about one person- me. On the one hand, I don't want to walk away from a board that I occasionally get a helpful answer from and "let them win." On the other, I really DON'T care what these anonymous internet bitches think of me, and so I should just cut the negativity from my life and say "screw em all."

Yes, I think the latter action is the wise course. Fuck it, I'm deleting the bookmark.

At least the people at meetings are nice, normal, and helpful.

Oh oh oh oh!! Do NOT go to the ww forums. They're horrible and cliquey and terrible. If you want a real supportive group, join [livejournal.com profile] _weightwatchers on here. Seriously. So much nicer.

Thank you! I will check it out, because they really are beyond awful, and having a support group would be nice. (Although the Cooking Light Critics thread was always very nice and welcoming, but it's hard to read through.)

No worries. I don't know if there's an LJ group for WW moms, but I bet they'll know there. Or maybe you could start one? I bet a lot of people would join.

Ah, you read my mind! Funny story -- I found a copy of her book at a local thrift store! It's the only time I've ever seen one 'in the flesh', so to speak.

Forums are nuts wherever one goes, I think. Not a day goes by on the Etsty without some kind of drama. Hell, I don't think even an hour goes by!

A friend of mine is pregnant with her first child and I have expressly forbidden her to join any on-line parenting forums. A few links to some of the most choice LJ Mommie dramas helped convince her it was the right idea!
