Battlestar Season 3
May. 17th, 2008 09:06 amSo, we finished Season three last night. Howard and I were cracking up when they all began singing- Cylons: The Musical! was the first thing that popped into my head. Also, we were amusing ourselves with the idea of them doing a kickline. And when Tigh made them all stop singing, we almost expected him to say something about a kickline. Hehehe.
I have totally reevaluated my idea of who The Last Cylon is. I don't think it's Dee anymore. I have two guesses: Gaeta and Zarek. Dee is just not interesting enough at this point. Gaeta and Zarek are.
I also think that, since the last Cylon didn't show up for the Dylan jam session, one of two things is true: the Last Cylon isn't on the ship (Zarek) or IS on the ship, knows he's a Cylon, and triggered the music (Gaeta.) I'm kind of liking Gaeta as my choice. He's been in a prime position all along, understands computers better than anyone else on the ship except Sharon, and when the three leaders of the insurgency were all Cylons, he was helping them. (I realize he didn't know who they were, or that they were Cylons. But from a narrative point of view.) And plus, from a narrative point of view, it's a neat trick. He's had an interesting story arc, and you could think he's been done justice, and BAM! Cylon.
Most of the same arguments apply to Zarek.
People I've definitely eliminated:
The comment in EW about the people in the "Last Supper" picture eliminates Helo (who is totally confirmed anyway, since his daughter is confirmed half&half), Papadama (we've seen evidence of him aging anyway), Starbuck (wasn't buying that because we've seen active memories of her childhood), Roslin (my biggest fear, and I'm glad they've pretty much confirmed she's not), and Baltar (thank God, because he's much more interesting human).
Cally... I was debating her, as a sign that maybe Cylons can properly reproduce. But like with Dee, she just seems to... not right from a story point of view. As of right now, at the end of Season 3, I can't see a narrative point to having Dee or Cally be the Cylon.
Yeah. Zarek or Gaeta makes the most sense to me.
Right now :) I'm sure I'll change it as we go along.
On a final note, I was very proud of myself that I recognized Lampkin (Baltar's lawyer) as Badger. And it clicked when the word "king" came up, because I remembered River calling him a "sad little king" or something like that. Go me!

And, yes! This is the only one that would make me angry if he is a cylon. If they make Baltar a cylon the writers completely negate the central heart of this character. It is his humanness that is important. He's done everything he's done precisely because he's human. If he were cylon, the viewer is allowed to dismiss all his actions.
