It's been a really long few days. Good, in some respects. Actually, it's funny, because we've been quite social. We visited aome and her kids (and her husband! I've never actually met him before!), and that was absolutely lovely. (Thanks again!) Then one of my friends in the development had had a baby, so I took dinner over to them and totally geeked out with the new dad about BSG. Then last night rinelk and bmars came over for dinner with their little bundle of adorableness. (BTW- very weird using internet names at times. In this case, I've known Kelsey since we were in junior high, and referring to him by an internet name is weird. In aome's case, I had a really hard time not calling her kids MiniPlu and Two in person :) ) But despite getting to be very social, I'm still feeling a bit cut off. Very odd.

Probably because I need sleep.

Had an appointment with the eating clinic again today, and it just sort of felt like more of the same. It's going to be such a long, hard road to get Toby past this, and right now I just feel tired whenever I think about it. But the psychologist told me to back away a little, which is good, because sometimes it can just overtake too much and I can find it hard to enjoy this wonderful little boy I have. I could follow that up with more depressing rumination, but instead, I'll follow it up with a meme I stole from krabapple:

Ah, but HP is wonderful!

1. One True Pairing Ship: Remus/Sirius. I still adore that ship and still think it takes very little tweaking of canon (if any) to make it work.
2. Canon Ship: James/Lily and Molly/Arthur. The kidlet ships just don't interest me much precisely because they're kidlets.
3. "If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Well, there was Remus/Tonks. Although that was more the how than the who. Harry/Draco, not that I was ever worried.
4. "You are one sick bastard" Ship: I confess. I like McGonagall/Sirius. Especially the idea of him crushing on her.
5. "I dabble a little" Ship: Lucius/Narcissa. One of these days I'll finish the fic on them.
6. "It's like a car crash" Ship: Voldemort/Bella. Definitely a car crash. :P
7. "Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Ron/Hermione. I like the ship, but just can't get into it.

You know, to be honest I wouldn't want to read much sex about Bella and Voldie anyway. That's just... yuck. (I can't handle reading Voldemort as sexual, period.)

I actually usually don't seek out the Death Eater stuff, except for buttfacemakani's art. And there it's more because she's really funny than anything else. Truthfully, he pretty much is. The closest I've ever come to shipping Snape is:

1.) the possibility of bitter hate-sex with Lupin post OotP

2.) the idea of McGonagall/Snape before I realized their extreme age difference

I guessed Snape/Lily, but don't really care for it. I just can't picture Snape much in sexual situations- his character doesn't work for me that way at all!

Oooh, Firefly will be a challenge because I don't much ship it!

1. One True Pairing Ship: Mal/Serenity, but if you want people, Zoe/Wash. I love Zoe/Wash.
2. Canon Ship: And it's canon!
3. "If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Wash/spike. :P Again, being serious, I guess Kaylee/Jayne would bug me.
4. "You are one sick bastard" Ship: I think a properly done Jayne/Book ship story would be really interesting.
5. "I dabble a little" Ship: Hmmm. Don't know on this one. Kaylee/Simon, I guess. I like the idea, but I think lots of the fic I've peeked at go for True Love Forever, and that isn't how I see their relationship.
6. "It's like a car crash" Ship: Mal/Inara. I like the ship because it IS a car crash!
7. "Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: Kaylee/Inara. There was some major subtext going on there in the show.
8. "Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship: Kaylee/Jayne casual sex!
9. "Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: River/Simon. I just don't like the incest ships.

Ooh, indeed it would be. It's funny, in this fandom all I seem to see are more in-depth gen pieces set against lighter ship fics.

And yes, Kaylee/Inara, I love the idea of that very much, their relationship is lovely on the show.

I can see why. It's not a shippy show for me. I think because there's a small core cast and they have pretty established relationships. Actually, I've never been into ships with Joss, period. It's not he writes bad relationships, or writes relationships badly, but that he writes so much else that is interesting.... But that's not even it either, because I ship the hell out of BSG. But Joss just doesn't get the ship part of me going. (I ship very little for Buffy, too.) Weird, that.

1. One True Pairing Ship: Roslin/Adama. How much do I love, love, love this ship? So much that it might actually displace Remus/Sirius for my #1 fictional people ship of all time. If she dies in 4.5, I'm gonna cry my eyes out.
2. Canon Ship: Roslin/Adama! It's canon! And I also think that Starbuck should stick with Sam.
3. "If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship: Wow. There aren't very many, because most ships on BSG don't end happily. How about Cavil/Tigh?
4. "You are one sick bastard" Ship: Okay, confession. I got an idea for writing a Dee/Billy/Gaeta threesome. I think that could be pretty fun >:)
5. "I dabble a little" Ship: Cally/Tyrol. It's just so sad and messed up. Also Roslin/Zarek, especially from his side.
6. "It's like a car crash" Ship: Baltar/Gaeta. Actually, I love the ship- IF it's Gaeta being crazy about Baltar and Baltar just fucking with him and not caring. However, most of what I find is sympathetic to Baltar and goes to hugs and puppies and lifetimes together. But I keep looking for the way I want it anyway.
7. "Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship: the Agethons. I like them in principle, but I just can't get into them. I think because I like Helo the person, but Helo the character bores me. Too perfect.
8. "Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship: Gaeta/Chief. I think I'd like that a lot.
9. "Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship: Oh, easy- Lee/Kara. I so much prefer them as friends! ("You have a brain?" is so much more preferable to angsty emo love.)

Oh, wait- for sporkage I forgot Dee/Gaeta, especially since that's more likely. I don't want Gaeta to be totally miserable, and I can see where the foundation might actually be there for a "he's always loved her" type thing, but I just think Dee already blew it with Billy. (Although she has paid dearly.) Plus, I have a rule of two. No more than two main characters can be in love with a third. Dee's had Billy and Apollo- she's done, as far as I'm concerned.

But I would really like it if Roslin got a cute aide (male or female, doesn't matter) who actually made something good happen to poor Felix :)

1. Roslin/Adama is kind of like Molly and Arthur for me. I really like them, but am not terribly OTP about them, except in the sense that I can't imagine either with anyone else. I'm not devoted in the same way I am to R/S, and I like their interactions with Lee and Kara just as much, especially in the early seasons.
2. I like Kara/Sam too, and am really curious to see how it goes now that she knows he's a Cylon. Though I suspect not well. :(
3. I came pretty close with Cavil/Boomer!

5. Oh man, I HATED Cally/Tyrol. It completely ruined both their characters for me, though I confess I'm still kind of hoping for a revival of Chief/Boomer.

9. I started out definitely Kara/Lee, but have come around to the gradual realization that I like them best as friends and siblings too. One of my very favorite K/L scenes ever is the one in Pegasus when Adama tells them they're being transferred and Kara glances over at Lee so she can time her childish outburst simultaneously with his. It's SUCH a sibling thing to do, and so hilarious. Nowadays I'm more a Kara/Sam shipper, but still like Kara/Lee and would definitely not object to a threesome!

Heh. I was wondering once to a friend if Gaeta's amputation had anything to do with the Cylon plot, and began saying, "It's an awful thing to do and you don't just cut off someone's leg to watch them suffer." We both looked at each other and said, "this is Battlestar Galactica. Yes, you do." I am sure there will be much Kara and Sam angst. Which is partly fun and partly too bad, because I do not ever get why Kara would want Lee when she could have Sam. The man is HOT.

I'm so tempted. Because I like the idea of Gaeta and Billy being friends in a "you're dating my psuedo little sister" sort of way, and Billy being a little paranoid about the Felix-Dee friendship until he said something and Felix told him, "um, Dee's not my type. YOU'RE more my type," and Billy, who's bi and kind of scared shitless about it but really curious, saying, "you know, if you ever wanted to join us...." And then Dee thinking it's really fucked up (sorry, frakked up) but going along with it because she's always wanted to do a m/m/f threesome and she's a secret slasher, and then it just going kind of wrong because Felix gets into it and Billy realizes he's MUCH more into Dee and then BOOM! Everything blows up.

I should so write for this show. I can grind them under my heel with the best of them :)

It is! Of course, Tyrol's too busy with Boomer and Cally, so it's really hard to make it fit, but maybe post-Cally's death when Gaeta's still an outcast.... But I have to admit I can't really make Tyrol work as bi in my head. He just strikes me as completely straight.

Nowadays I'm more a Kara/Sam shipper, but still like Kara/Lee and would definitely not object to a threesome!

See, that's my solution. And this time I'd put Kara in the middle, not one of the guys. I totally think she should do this, if she can't get over Lee :)

They're kind of like Remus/Tonks for me. Once upon a time I was okay with the idea, because I liked both characters, but the execution just destroyed it for me. The beating up thing, and Chief apparently just forgetting that she'd SHOT the love of his life, and then the ugliness and depression afterwards, which I do get, really, having been naively convinced I escaped PPD only to be hit hard months down the road. But maybe for that reason it was nearly impossible for me to watch and very hard to remember in the aftermath that Chief was once one of my very favorite characters and Cally was once, if not a favorite, then at least not somebody I could barely stand the sight of.

I hate Nicky too. Understandable, on the one hand, that he'd be that needy with his parents falling apart around him, but he doesn't seem to do anything but scream. A colicky newborn is one thing, but a two year old? I mean, every kid has his days (and hours and minutes), but if it's every day, all day, there is a problem, and not one I really want blaring out of my TV screen.

I'm hoping she does. I, for one, would be a happy little shipper. :) And it's not like they're not open to canon threesomes.
