Naptime is almost over. Sigh. All good things must come to an end!

Out of curiosity- is it really annoying when people change their LJ names? I've regretted mine for a long time, and since I'm getting more into real life stuff and the like, I'm seriously debating changing it. (Probably to lls_mutant or something like that, so the original name is still there- just something a little less HP oriented.)

Thoughts?

I've had a couple people on my flist change names - not such a big deal if you make a post with the new name and/or comment with the new name on the journals of folks you want to re-friend you. As with most things in life, just communicate clearly and it's probably fine. :)

I don't have a problem with name changes as long as there's timely notification. I'd sort of forgotten about Dora's, so when I was cleaning up my f-list a few days ago I was looking at an all new name saying, "who's 10rose?" Besides, LLS-whatever is close enough to your current screenname.

Imho, as long as people put a flocked or public post on their LJ saying Hi this is [__________] and I used to be [___________], I don't have a problem with it. BUt that's just my take.

It is mildly annoying, but I'm considering it myself. :-P As others said, as long as there's proper notification, everyone usually figures it out. :-)

It doesn't bother me as long as they don't do it without warning -- I'm easily confused, after all! I'm considering changing mine as well, though I haven't decided on a new one.

I sometimes find myself reading the flist and have *no idea* who someone is: obviously, someone I friended, but *who*? People have mentioned making a post, but those can get overlooked. If it's not a question of privacy/stalking/identity protection, it might be good to mention the name change on your profile page... so someone like me can figure out who you are!

I don't think it's annoying--I think half my f-list's done that, heh--but it does help if you make a post announcing your name change. :-)

Erm, sorry about the double post. Forgot to change the log in ID.

Anyway, I say go for it. It is a little weird at first, but people will get over it.

I think as long as you explain the name change, people adjust pretty quickly. I've been frustrated by a few friends who seem to constantly change their user names, but even then, I get over it. Do what you're comfortable with.

As long as I can find you again, have at it!

It's only irksome when people change their usernames, and then don't tell anyone, so I end up going, "Who the hell is this person and why is she on my flist? Defriend!"

So, make an announcement. No biggie.

Besides, you frequently use a very distinctive icon - i.e., one of yourself - so, yeah, no biggie.

As someone who reads for the non-fic posts, I've always thought your LJ name was a bit too tracked into HP. So I suspect I have the same reasons for wanting you to change it that you do, and would be supportive.
