::sigh:: For the most part, we've been doing pretty well with potty training. Today, however, we had three accidents. "Mommy, I have to pee on the potty" is great if it's BEFORE he pees, not right after.
We also got our alumni magazine from grad school today- the one dedicated to our program. Yeah, that made me feel ever so significant. :P
Also? The handyman turned off the water during the kids' lunchtime. Let me tell you, THAT was fun.
I got a lot of needlepoint done today, which is nice. I'm very annoyed because I have a story kicking around in my head, and I'm having a hard time writing it. On the one hand, I don't want to write it because I'm afraid it will be a gateway into BSG fanfic. On the other hand:
1.) I'm doing NaNoWriMo, which will kick me into my original stuff. And once I get started, hopefully that will be clinched.
2.) I don't seem to have any other BSG related ideas, so maybe if I just go ahead and write it, it will go away.
3.) IF I do Remix again this year, it would be nice to be able to list BSG. Except that I'm so not a Kara/Lee shipper, and while I am TOTAL Adama/Roslin shipper I want the series, not the fic, and it seems like most of the fic in BSG focuses on one of those two pairings.
Anyway, the idea is working with Gaeta and Zarek- gen between them- and the dynamic that's GOT to be there but we don't even see a hint of in the show. Not that my specific dynamic has to be there, just that Zarek was VP and Gaeta was CoS- they had to have worked together. And sort of going a bit father/son for a while, or mentorish, and then a glorious crash and burn, with a slow rebuild. I think I could do it, although I'm finding the political part difficult.
The problem is that I see two different formats for this story. One is a "Five Things" format, which would focus exclusively on Zarek's point of view and be a shorter story. The other is a longer, more epic story that would focus on both points of view, and could include other characters like Dee and Cottle and Roslin (because I also like unrequited Zarek/Roslin). My gut is saying I should go for the shorter story, as I'm new to the fandom and people are more likely to read a shorter piece by an unknown author. My fingers itch to tell the longer story. I suspect the compromise (If I really must write it, and there are six pages idly written on my open Word file) is to write the Tom POV first, and then do a companion piece from Gaeta's POV.
But I'm still fighting it kicking and screaming. I've expressed my reservations about it before, and they're still there. But sometimes it seems like it would just be easier to give in and write the stupid story so it goes away and leaves me the frak alone :P
I also have a new Final Cylon theory. Assuming that a.) the Final Five are from Earth, and b.) they've been around the Colonies for quite a while, Cavil is actually the last of the Final Five, and he created the Significant Seven. But he's one of the Seven? No. That's why he's #1. He made seven other models, and the reason we've never seen model 7 and there's a model 8 is because the Sevens have been boxed, except for a single sleeper agent who is still (or was still) with the Fleet. The only thing I don't like about that theory is that it makes 4 of the final 5 male, and I don't think that makes sense. I'm still clinging to that last one needs to be female.
Anyway, enough rambling. Hope everyone is having a good day!
