Feb. 16th, 2010 03:22 pmUgh. The mood theme fits.
We had our little V-day party. Made the chicken salad, which was the right choice. Aside from not having to be served hot, it was fantastic. The kids had hot dog bites, grapes, and cookies, and the adults had the chicken salad, gougeres, and chocolate raspberry tarts. We fed the kids and then ate in the dining room, with good plates and we had roses on the table. It was actually nicer than I'd even imagined- we just really had a nice time. Thanks to everyone who responded to the poll yesterday!
I posted fic last night: One Need In the Night- the Hoshi-Athena darkfic. It's one of those fics that I still haven't decided if I like it yet or not, but the idea insisted on being written. I'm not sure if I'm going to cross-post it anywhere or not. I can't decide. It would really help if I knew if I liked it or not.
However, it's done, which means I can get back to working on Not Where I Belong, which I DO like, very much. I'm really excited about some of the stuff coming up. I also should post A Lot to Live Up To to
bsg_shadows (well, post a master post, anyway), because that's the place Dee fic really belongs :) But Toby wants to come down soon and test out the chocolate playdough, so it's not something I'll be doing right away. ::sigh::
I'm beat tonight, but I'm debating what to do for dinner. On the one hand, I have leftover Cooking Light Chicago deep dish pizza in the fridge, and it was very good, and the kids (especially Toby) liked it. On the other hand, they've had a lot of energy, and there's a certain attraction to taking them to Chick-Fil-A, which has a.) a play center, and b.) either chicken noodle soup or a chicken sandwich for a low point value. Plus, it's family night there. Tonight's activity is Wii games though, which my boys aren't ready for. So it might be crowded. Unfortunately, Chick-Fil-A is the only joint this close with a play center.
And, of course, what I really want is a nap. I didn't sleep well last night- I was up a bit late getting One Need in the Night done, and then had a hard time falling asleep. Trevor woke me up at 5:00 looking for Motrin (his ears still hurt), and then my alarm woke me up at 6:30. But I've got nine minutes until we test out chocolate playdough, and only 39 minutes left in Trevor's naptime.
I should bug Cally, but I expect I'll play Scramble instead.
