Holy shit. That was one of the best LOST episodes since the pilot.
So wee actually moved the plot forward a bit (the names! A few more hints about Jacob vs. the man in black! Sawyer being decisive! Candidates!) That was good. Very good, and I really enjoyed it. But what got me more was some of the character moments.
Ten Awesome Moments on Tonight's LOST."
10.) "Guess I should put some pants on, huh?" Classic Sawyer.
9.) Helen. For some reason I'd thought she and Locke broke up, but I must be wrong.
8.) Locke's speech about accepting being in a wheelchair.
7.) Locke's substitute teaching job and meeting Ben. (And the sex ed. EHee! That was just funny.)
6.) Sawyer being able to see the kid when Richard couldn't.
5.) Sawyer's "Of Mice and Men" speech.
4.) The whole juxtaposition of this being a Locke episode and a smoke monster episode, and the feeling that when you go back and watch it later, it will make even more sense.
3.) Rose's speech when she told Locke she had cancer.
2.) THE NAMES. JACOB's LIST!!!!
1.) "Don't tell me what I can't do!" Holy shit, I got chills.
Seriously- I think that writing wise, this is one of the best episodes they've done since the pilot. AWESOME.
Also,
geekbynight asked me to link to this when I posted: Ten Romantic Comedies Actually Worth Watching, which I wrote for MRFH. Not overly thoughtful, but it was fun to write. (And I really need to post that Kite Runner review.)

Date: 2010-02-17 04:23 am (UTC)LOVE the Wedding Singer.
Didn't care for Say Anything. I think it was that ending, that plot point about the dad that came out of nowhere.

Date: 2010-02-17 08:46 pm (UTC)I was surprised by some of the ones on my list. (Forgetting Sarah Marshall being the biggie.) But I assume you HAVE seen The Cutting Edge, right?????? If you haven't, you, of all people, need to go see it as soon as the Olympics are over and you have time to watch something else.

Date: 2010-02-17 08:48 pm (UTC)If you haven't seen that muppet video for #1, you really must check it out. I was rolling on the floor laughing when watching it. (Of course, I think I promptly posted it here right after, but still.)

Date: 2010-02-17 08:42 pm (UTC)I'm not a huge fan of romantic comedies in general myself, but hey- I'm 35. Just via life I've seen enough of them. Most of them leave my mind very quickly. And I'm usually happier for it!

Date: 2010-02-18 03:54 am (UTC)Reboot world seems to be quite different--Helen mentioned something about her parents and John's dad at the wedding, for example, so I'm assuming that means his dad didn't try and kill him? Or that he had a decent foster or stepfather figure that he considered to be a father... So yeah, she dumped him in the first timeline but not this one.
Not to mention Ben Linus, teacher. Heeeeeee!
5.) Sawyer's "Of Mice and Men" speech.
Yeah, I loved that so much.
