Jan. 22nd, 2009 02:01 pmThings seem to (cautiously) be on an upswing.
-Both kids slept all night last night, and I got a good 6.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I would have gotten another hour if I hadn't been having phantom crying issues this morning. I HATE phantom crying. :P Fevers are both down, and while both are still coughing, they have more energy.
-A neighbor decided to practice a random act of kindness, I think, and brought over homemade chicken noodle soup. It was SO sweet of her. Neither boy would touch it (no surprise on Tobe, but that's a clear indicator Trev isn't feeling great), but I appreciated it.
-Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for Best Picture :) I still haven't seen a lot of the other movies, but I LOVED that one.
-Best news of the day: my friend with cancer went into remission!!!! YAY!!!!
-I have a Milky Way bar. Milky Ways make everything better.
-My TV shows are coming out of hibernation! First BSG, then Fringe, then LOST. Now I just need Heroes back. And to catch up on Scrubs, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother (but we're only on Season 1 of that).
Yeah, I know. I do think about shows other than BSG :)
I have to say, I'm liking Fringe more and more. With the mindfuck that is time travel, it might move past LOST to become #2 on my list. I could do with a little less grossness, but other than that, I really like it.
However.
The one thing that bugs me- and maybe I'm wrong- is they seem to be headed towards a Peter/Olivia hookup. PLEASE NO. DO NOT WANT. I like Olivia. The fact that she comes across as kind of cold and flat doesn't bother me, because to me she comes across as a woman who is supremely fucked up recently and hasn't had time to deal with it. I love Peter. Peter is my bigger reason for watching the show. But the combo of Peter/Olivia... there are no sparks there. (And it's cliche.) The characters don't make sense together. (And it's cliche.) And, oh yeah, IT'S A GIANT CLICHE.
I'd actually prefer no romance whatsoever. I don't think this show needs it. But if we are going to have romance:
1.) Olivia/Charlie, please. (The guy she works with? The one that seems like he's madly in love with her?) Those two have some sparks.
2.) Astrid/anyone. I like Astrid. I like her a lot. I still think in a crossover world Astrid/Gaeta would be an awesome pairing. I would not even mind Astrid/Peter. Just please give Astrid something to do already. She's cute, she's funny, and she's obviously smart, and she could be an awesome Robin to Olivia's Batman.
No one strikes me as a good match for Peter yet. But I want to know a lot more about Peter.
But yeah. I'm glad Fringe is back.
LOST, on the other hand... I'm lost. I hate time travel. And I have no idea where they're going with it. I still enjoyed it, but time travel really makes my head hurt. Although I liked how Daniel laid down the rules that it's impossible to change anything.
-I noticed Desmond and Penny had rings on. THAT made me grin to no end.
-It's three years later. Sun doesn't have a more recent picture of her daughter? However, she is forgiven, because Sun was unbelievably cool. I like that she's been taking lessons from Sayid and actually said what she wanted to say.
-Speaking of Sayid, any time he wants to run around on my screen in black leather, he is welcome to do so.
-I still like Hurley. And his way of getting away from Ben at the end was classic.
-Sawyer has lost some definition in the chest/abs area, I think. Just noticing. I'm betting Juliet was noticing, too. Like, "why did I ever think whiny Jack was hot?" type noticing.
But yeah, I can't even PREDICT anything on LOST, because I have no freaking clue what they're doing. :P
Nothing on tonight that I watch. Depending on my mood, I'll either watch a Mamma Mia! or Dr. Horrible, and maybe the webisodes on TV, since they belong in between last week's episode and this one. We'll see how tired I am.
ETA: And the insurance case manager just called and it's been approved!!!! YES!!!! We can get this show back on the road!
