BSG- "No Exit"
Feb. 14th, 2009 01:50 pmFirst- check out the icon
blue_crow made me. Isn't it awesome? I owe him Gaius/Tyrol for it, so that ought to be fun.
I also have a Sekrit Project coming along. If I finish it, I'm going to need a beta, and maybe someone who can figure out how to do funky fonts. Anyone interested? Here's the catch- must be fluent in Dr. Horrible.
Okay. Two parts to this post:
No Exit, No Spoilers
Well, that was an exercise in "tell, don't show", wasn't it? Sheesh. I didn't hate the episode, but could they have put a little action in it?
Things I loved:
-They actually mentioned the Sevens. MUCH MORE ON THAT LATER.
-Ellen and Cavil. Seriously, is there a bad actor on this show?
-Michael Trucco really stepped it up this episode. I like Sam anyway and don't have nearly the animosity towards Sam that some people do, but he really sold me on the idea that he was a machine in this one.
-Boomer. I always rather liked Boomer, and I'm so, so, SO delighted to see her turn against Cavil.
-Tigh. Tigh is the man, and I am loving him.
Things I hated:
-Adama's flip-flopping on Cylon technology. On the one hand, I think he realized how anti-Cylon technology his crew really was, because a mutiny can kind of have that effect. On the other hand, it was just badly written. And I really wanted him to be upset over Gaeta. But Adama got very few scenes this episode, so maybe next one.
-Laura. Sorry, I love her normally. But they REALLY assassinated Laura the last few episodes. Hiding the Cylons behind civilians? Basically saying "the presidency is mine and you can't have it, even though you're legally in line?" to Tom Zarek? Telling Lee she's retaining the title but he gets to do all the work? Come ON, RDM. Roslin/Adama is my OTP- STOP WRECKING IT.
Things I just found funny:
-"Battlestar Galactica- sponsored by Viagra!" When two of the pairings involve men over 50, this becomes even funnier.
-Chief/Tory. (Oh, and how happy am I that he's Chief again???) I still want to smack Tory. Adds a lovely new dimension to her killing his wife, huh?
-Tigh going nuts over his baby boy. Awww.
Okay. Frak Chart Spoilers begin here.
The Theory- The only spoilers beyond this are Frak Chart Spoilers, and up to No Exit."
Okay. Here are my theories regarding the Seven.
1.) Daniel is completely dead and gone, and we'll never see anything more from him. This was just a retcon to explain the missing Sevens. Personally, I think this one is most likely.
2.) Daniel is Starbuck's father. (It's not Starbuck- Ellen specifically referred to him as a "he".) The thing I don't like about this one is that they retconned Nicky to a human baby so that Hera would still be "special". Well, what's special about Hera if Starbuck is a hybrid?
3.) Daniel is Gaeta. Oh, come on. You knew this was coming.
See, there's a few things I'm finding suspicious. When Dee suicided, there were big interviews with Kandyse McClure. Zarek died, and now they're honoring Richard Hatch. But Gaeta died, and no interviews? Maybe his turn is this week since no one died, but still. I think we're going to see Gaeta again in some form.
Now, truthfully, I prefer Gaeta to stay human. What I'd really like to see is him being the Elosha to Baltar's Roslin. It makes sense to me, a head!Gaeta/spiritual guide spurring Baltar on to the kind of leader he's apparently meant to be, given that Gaeta was the first one who believed in Baltar so passionately. And the idea of Gaeta ressurecting... I agree with
mattski7 that it would really take away from Gaeta's story.
BUT.
Okay, ready for my specially created backstory? Ready for how I tie the pieces together? Personally, I think this is pretty awesome.
The Five created the Eight, right? Well, what if Sam Anders- musician on Earth, created the Daniels, and gave them his love of music? (Isn't this cool already?)
The Ones and the Sevens turned on each other, we know this, because the Sevens were basically too human. But Sevens existed. The Ones poisoned the bodies, but there were Sevens around. So.
On the frak chart, there's a link between Gaeta and Caprica Six. Now, we've all been assuming that that links to the webisodes. But what if it doesn't? What if Caprica Six was sleeping with one of the Sevens, and she ended up saving him from Cavil? She wiped his memory like a sleeper agent, made him think he was human, and hid him in the Fleet? And so Daniel, now Felix, lived in the Fleet, thinking he was human, and Caprica Six changed the programming so no one could really think about the Sevens any more, or at least forgot what he looked like. But when Caprica Six saw him on New Caprica, she knew him.
And Gaeta, even though he was programmed to think he was human, found himself torn. He trusted the Cylons because he was one, but he hated the Cylons because of what Cavil had done to him. And the conflict was tearing him apart.
And eventually the mutiny on the Demetrius happened, and Sam shot Felix. The reason he was SO upset, and the singing bothered him so much? He basically shot his son.
See? I told you this was pretty cool.
We've also been promised in interviews that we'll get an explanation for what the head!people are. I don't see Felix resurrecting, but what if he's able to do whatever it is Caprica Six did to Gaius to give him a head!person?
I really don't think this is going to come to pass. I think if we see Felix again, it will be a flashback or a head!person- but it wouldn't surprise me if we never see him again. ::sniff:: But we didn't see Baltar at all this episode, and we barely saw Adama, and we didn't see the CIC. Those are the places where Felix's ghost should linger, and so I'm still holding out hope we'll see a little of his impact.
Anyway, theories are fun :)
