Mar. 12th, 2009 08:28 pmMy new icon amuses me to no end.
This one's making the rounds and probably all the HP people on my list have seen it, but I haven't seen it on the BSG or real life sides yet.
Review of the worst romance novel EVER.
Not safe for work, partly because of the bad language (I can't say erotic content because it is NOT), and partly because you will be laughing out loud.
Almost done Watchmen. Sheesh, talk about monologuing. At least it had a good twist at the end of it. Won't say any more, because I'm not totally done, but I'm REALLY enjoying the book. Must read V for Vendetta as well, and maybe even League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Alan Moore basically got paid to write crossover fanfic. NOT FAIR.)
Bought Toby Star Wars underwear today, in an effort to convince him that using the potty is good. Next line of attack: poop on the potty five times and we'll buy you a TIE fighter. Not thrilled about using that, but for potty training.... ::Sigh::
Trevor is still not walking. Come on, boy, you're so close!
It's amazing how little I have to say these days. That's not necessarily bad, it's just smooth sailing at the moment. I can't complain. Plus, nothing good's been on TV except BSG, especially since all my shows took a fricking week off. And BSG only has two more weeks ::sob:: But the best part is I'm getting one of the things I really wanted for the finale! In my dream finale, I'd get all the watchers I know online together and make the December Bon Appetit cooking club menu (standing rib roast with Irish whiskey gravy and horseradish cream, porcini and sausage stuffing, broccoli rabe with pecans and browned butter, miniature goat cheese popovers, potato and mushroom gratin, and then probably chocolate raspberry tartlets for dessert instead of whatever it was because it had coffee and I hate coffee). But I knew that wasn't realistic. However, my friend Al from MRFH is planning on coming down, and there's a small chance my best friend's husband might come over. We'll get out some booze and make some snacks, and it will be awesome. Not quite Geekfest levels of awesome (Geekfest was when we had a party and watched all three extended LotR movies back-to-back-to-back), but truly awesome anyway.
Although we'll probably just order pizza instead of cooking ;)
I should go finish my Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls review. Thank God I write for a site that specializes in reviewing stuff that's on video! :)

Date: 2009-03-13 02:11 am (UTC)Best. Book. EVER.
And I cannot tell you how much I love you for watching all three LotR movies- extended!- back-to-back. I have been wanting to do that, but I don't know anyone geeky enough to do it with me.

Date: 2009-03-13 11:37 am (UTC)It was awesome, although I'm ashamed to say I was a little too drunk to make it to the end. ::sigh:: (It was my last fling with booze before trying to get pregnant with my oldest.) One day, I'd LOVE to do it with my kids. (Rebellion in this house is going to be "But I don't wanna watch Lord of the Rings! I wanna play FOOTBALL!")

Date: 2009-03-13 02:38 pm (UTC)Alas! But at least you had a good excuse. Alcohol excuses everything. It's not like you simply wimped out.
Should I ever have children, rebellion in my house is going to be "But MOM. I don't want to do marching band and the school play. I want to be a CHEERLEADER."

Date: 2009-03-13 03:47 am (UTC)The first fic I read where there is mention of Gaeta resisting the urge to play a game on a console, my immediate thought was WoW.
Your imaginary feast sounds delicious.

Date: 2009-03-13 11:42 am (UTC)Yeah, I've long believed that this guy is a total geek. I actually think that he hasn't had many partners because I picture him being short and skinny with bad skin and attached to his computer when he was younger, and then by the time he grew into himself being so involved in his work and still having that geek lifestyle that it just never really happened often. He's like the antithesis of Starbuck in some ways. (Especially the way he sits at the console sharpening the image in the first season. You just KNOW this guy spends a lot of time with computers.)
(He also totally used to play D&D.)

Date: 2009-03-13 04:09 am (UTC)Felix would be awesome at WoW. I had a lowbie warlock named Gaeta for a while. D: Too bad it was after they took out the PVP ratings, so he can't be Lieutenant.
Saw Watchmen again today and still have mixed feelings on their version of the end.

Date: 2009-03-13 11:46 am (UTC)I've written him playing Scramble, D&D, and I think I might have done World of Warcraft at some point, only I called it Questos. (I think he just off-handedly mentions it to Tom that that's what he does when he's off duty.) The guy is a total geek, and there's just no two ways around it. (Reasons I can believe Gaeta/Hoshi better than Gaeta/Narcho. Also, "sweetie, be a dear and go kill the Admiral for me" isn't exactly romantic, y'know?)
I have one more chapter in the book, and I think my husband's giving me time off this weekend to go see the movie. Wheee!!! :)

Date: 2009-03-13 03:28 pm (UTC)I'm coming to you house for dinner. Set an extra plate! Ya know, when you actually do have that menu.
You call it Geekfest - at my house we call it "Laundry Day."
