I haven't done a ficathon in a while. Well, I did rs_small_gifts at Christmas, but before that it was the Games, and that was almost a year ago. This one was fun- nice and small and low-pressure.

As I said before, I got a lovely gift from da_angel729, Practical Politics. It's always kind of neat to get chosen by the mod. Go tell her how awesome she did, because the fic really does nail Tom Zarek perfectly.

I think several of you have read it already, and everyone on my list probably guessed it was me from some things that I said under locked stuff, but I wrote Honor and Duty. I almost cried because as soon as I had finished the fic (but no one had seen it yet), kappamaki started posting Mathematics, which dealt with the same exact subject- Gaeta's Eight from her perspective. Obviously, the stories are REALLY different though, and if you like that particular subject, make sure you read her stuff, because it's really shaping up into an awesome, plotty story.

So yeah, the prompt was "Cylons", which at first almost made me cry because I started thinking Caprica Six, and I'm not a Cap6 ficcer. The whole baby thing makes me not be able to see her sympathetically at all (and I'm talking the killing the baby in the miniseries). But it's not like "Cylons" ONLY includes Cap6, and I got thinking about the war and the idea that there must be Cylons who actually fell in love with other Cylons, and what if they were on opposite sides of the civil war, and Gaeta's Eight because making sense of her actions requires some doing, and... yeah.

Well, we'll just have to go with the great minds think alike argument, eh? :) I don't know if my deleted comment to you worked correctly last time, but your fic gave me a little heart-stopping moment of "frak, we *do* have the same idea!" on a plot point, which will be showing up in my fic in two chapters. But, luckily, I think we both take the idea in somewhat different directions--you'll have to let me know what you think when I post that part. I get the feeling that we both had the same problem with an episode, and that's from whence the idea sprang...eh, I should just stop, because I'm sounding so cryptic, and if you didn't get the deleted comment, this is making absolutely no sense.

But yeah, I loved your fic, and it was really fascinating to see a completely different take on a character whose mind I've been in so much lately!

I did get the comment, I just wasn't sure how to reply. Heh- great minds indeed, huh? (Although not so much the baby. Deciding that a woman having a baby after having sex probably isn't the most original concept in the universe ;) ) I agree... Deadlocked needed some serious rewriting, and the writers needed to be hit over the head with it, given that it's definitely a large and CLUNKY object. Ick.

What a nice time I had today poking in your New Caprica world. Between I'm Not Superman and Honor and Duty, I've had a glimpse into the busy life Mr. Gaeta had on New Caprica.

I really liked Honor and Duty. Liked to get the Eight's possible POV and that she had a life of her own before Felix. A love of her own. I knew you had totally sold the story to me, when I got mad that she didn't want Felix's baby. Who wouldn't want Felix-babies?!! Hee! Would have been adorable too, if Hera's curls are any indication. :-)

Like others, I'm glad that you gave Simon a life and concerns too. Star-crossed lovers! You really gave everyone life and breath in both stories.
