May. 26th, 2009 10:09 pmI have a nasty cold, so I am doped up on cold meds. Yay. Even better, poor Trevor has my cold. He seems happy enough, but hearing a baby cough just twists the heart. Not that he's that much a baby anymore- he's really getting big.
I don't know if I mentioned, but we did see Star Trek. Loved it. Haven't mentioned it much because I have my review mostly written, and I'll review it at MRFH. Also watched The Day the Earth Stood Still last night. Bad movie, but hello, BSG cast. Playing "spot the BSG cast member!" kept me pretty entertained. (Also confirmed that Brad Dryborough looks MUCH better with long hair.)
I FINALLY cracked my Remix. It will be so freaking obvious which one I wrote when I'm done, but oh well. It usually is. I'm also pleased because the rough draft of Chapter 5 of A Lot to Live Up To is pretty much done. I'm really happy with this chapter :) And I think next chapter I might be able to start getting into reveals! Maybe. No promises. But this chapter fills one of my big fic kinks. :) I really wish I had done this as my
bsg_bigbang piece, because there are a few moments I'd love art for. (Like Dee, Hoshi, Helo, and the hose, and the said fic kink that's in this chapter.) But then, I'm not sure there are that many artists in the BSG fandom. It seems like it's more vidders.
We've been watching The Office on DVD as well. Still not in love with it. I totally get why everyone ships Pam/Jim (and right now, Pam is The Reason to watch the show), but I've been told it gets better. We're only in the second episode of the second season. I spend more time cringing than laughing. We'll see. Everyone raves about it so much, I'm willing to keep with it for a bit longer.
Toby was stomping around the house yesterday playing the "Imperial Death March" on the kazoo and clutching his stuffed manatee. Trevor has discovered the joy of making rocks splash in the creek. Seriously, I love my kids :)

If you post your Mutant review while I'm gone (before Sun night), would you drop me a comment so I can read it when I have reliable internet again?

Date: 2009-05-27 02:35 am (UTC)I don't get The Office. I think mostly because I'm not a fan of Steve Carrell at all.

Date: 2009-05-27 11:31 am (UTC)I'm totally not a fan of Steve Carrell. I mean, he's doing a GREAT job with the role, but I can't stand the role. We'll ride it out a little longer, because I hear the secondary characters become more important (and I like a lot of them), but I cringe SO often....

Date: 2009-05-27 02:37 am (UTC)Yay for new chapters! :) And yay for Star Trek, I just saw it a second time.
ETA: I officially started a BSG TLW hunt, gonna post a pic spam when I get the majority of them... some people are tricky to find because they have no lines! I spent like 20 minutes searching for Luciana Carro... but anyways... I came across Brad Dryborough and thought about you... his entire scene is a rather explicit gay bathroom sex scene in the 70s that ends in him getting arrested for being gay.

Date: 2009-05-27 11:29 am (UTC)That's funny about the L Word. I've never watched the series (my husband has no interest because he thinks it would be too "chick-ish", and at this point I've sort of agreed with him- I've heard it's got a bit of a Sex in the City vibe), but I find it entertaining that so many BSG people have appeared there. Smallville and SG seem to be good BSG hunting grounds as well.

Date: 2009-05-27 12:10 pm (UTC)I'd never actually recommend The L Word to anyone. I started watching when I was like... 15 and had no other queer role models... they're shitty role models. When I re-started watching at 18 I realized the entire series consists of making really stupid decisions broken up by a few really interesting scenes and a lot of sex scenes... which sometimes overlap with the really stupid decisions.

Date: 2009-05-27 12:20 pm (UTC)That good, huh? Too bad, although I'm not surprised. Oh well. At least my cynicism extends to the fact it's a TV show, and not a TV show about gay people. That sentence describes just about any soap opera or soap opera-like show.

Date: 2009-05-27 12:32 pm (UTC)Although, what TLW does have going for it, is that it's like trainwreck. I showed it to one of my friends and she replied "I know I shouldn't be watching this but I can't look away"
