The Titles Meme

From
thistlerose: Ten favorite fic titles. Of course, since I rarely write one-shots...
1.) "Fly", a fic I wrote for Pern fandom. The basic premise was my crippled bluerider (who used to be a long-distance runner) began learning to swim, and joined a relay team where he was the butterfly leg. I thought "fly" fit that perfectly, because he was both learning the stroke and learning to fly again metaphorically.
2.) "Accio Bananas!", a R/S fic where Ginny and Hermione ask Sirius and Remus a rather, erm, sensitive question. I love it just because it's silly. (Like the fic.) And because that fic gets read more often just for the title alone.
3.) "Accidentally In Love, part VII- Hitting Hard, duh, part 7 of Accidentally in Love. I'm not very happy with most of my titles for Accidentally in Love, especially the main one as it gives people a bouncy impression and it's far from a bouncy fic. But I really did like "Hitting Hard", because that's exactly what happened in chapter 7.
4.) "Mentors", the Remus-Alphard fic. I like my very simple titles, to be honest. And this one just FIT. It might not be the most flashy title, but it summed up the theme and the plot of the story perfectly.
5.) "The Old Canvas Bag", the one where Damien teaches Remus how to box. Maybe I'm biased because this is one of my favorite fics ever, and one I'm very proud of, but maybe not. Again, a very simple title that I think shoots right to the centerpiece of the story. And impossible to confuse with any other HP fic.
6.) "Against Better Judgment", another Pern fic, and one of my favorites, even if I'd write it totally different now. "Against Better Judgment" is a rape fic (for those who've never read my rape fics, they're about consequences, not the actual act) and focuses on both A'drias, who put himself in a bad, bad situation, and A'ron, who took advantage of said situation. Plus, combined with Sue's "The Green Man", it spawned "Through the Fire", which was my first novel-length fic and the introduction to the best co-writer I've ever had.
7.) "And One Time, at Weyrling Training..." Sorry I can't link to all these Pern fics. I made this very, VERY talkative dragon named Eschanniath who was based a bit on Michelle from the American Pie movies. I loved that dragon. ::sniff:: An overall silly fic with some serious but not angsty undertones- and the title fit perfectly.
8.) "Deny Thy Father"- the fic that sucked me back in. ::sigh:: It fit for Sirius's backstory. The only problem is the title got in my head very, very early on, and I think it influenced that fact I made so much of the confrontation be between Sirius and his father, with his mother gearing up more towards the end.
9.) "Psychotic Wench: aka Lupin vs. the Soda Machine"- does it need an explanation why I like the title? The first of the Psychotic Wench series (of right now there are only two), and needs to be archived here or something, because the many moves on Immeritus have made it hard to read thanks to me not being good and turning of smartquotes.
10.) "Come Talk to Me"- my first Weasley fic. Again, I'm biased because this is a very, very personal fic to me. And it's SONGFIC. Ick. (Although the song just breaks up different points of view and vignettes.) But it did fit for me, and because this was such a personal fic, I didn't really care- what worked had to be used.
Hmmm. I need more fics!
