Aug. 2nd, 2009 08:40 amLove the weekends! I don't know why since I don't go out to work, but I do.
Posted Chapter 13 of A Lot to Live Up To on Friday. Boy, will I be glad to put this one to bed! Next chapter's the trial, then I have to at least have them return from the Demetrius, and then find Earth... ::sigh:: My frustration isn't so much with getting it done, because I certainly know where it's going, but with the fact I really want to get moving on my Big Bang. I've got 6 pages of that done, and Sweet!Eight's just about kidnapped the Raptor. Like, next scene Felix realizes what she's done. And there's SO much going on in that fic.
Had my girls' lunch at Cheesecake Factory yesterday, and it was AWESOME. The food was good, but the company was even better. The three of us all have boys that will start kindergarden the same year, and then our second children will mostly start the same year. And I really, really, really like the moms, but we so rarely get a chance to just talk, and not about the kids. So going out, looking pretty, and just TALKING- and we eventually talked some about the kids, but not after spending a good hour gossiping about the neighborhood and stuff, and when we DID talk about the kids it was just telling each other some of the craziest things our kids do... it was fantastic. All three of us needed that SO badly.
Saw the schedule for Dragon Con. There's a BSG panel called "An Unlikely Partnership." I don't think I need to tell you guys this, but if that panel is addressing the mutiny, I WANT PICTURES :) It probably won't be. It will probably be something I'm not even thinking, because I always come up with ideas slanted to my own interests, and no one from the official BSG world seems to care about the idea of what was going on behind the Gaeta-Zarek partnership- it was a match of convenience, even though there's a GREAT story there. Oh well.
Also. I'm debating what I think of this "My Guests" things. On the author hand, it would be kind of nice to have an idea how many people are checking out my stories. On a believer kind of hand, it feels a little big brotherish. I can't really be bothered at the moment to figure out what I think of it :P

Date: 2009-08-02 04:39 pm (UTC)Personally, I'm not comfortable with the "My Guests" thing. (I'm not thrilled with the "who's online" thing on a lot of forums, either. I like being anonymous and invisible if I want to be. And I figure that I know most of the people who are reading my journal anyway; I don't need to track people like a virus.)

Date: 2009-08-02 05:54 pm (UTC)Plus, I don't really want people to feel pressured then to leave comments (I would feel more pressured if I knew someone knew for sure that I'd looked at their story.) I mean, yes, comments are great, and in an ideal world everyone would leave them. But sometimes you don't. Sometimes you're just not inspired, or too tired, or the phone rings and you never get back to it, or whatever.
I think I feel like the My Guests thing is asking for trouble, but I need to debate it in my mind a little more.

Date: 2009-08-02 07:28 pm (UTC)We seriously should just kidnap you. It's a holiday weekend, Howard should be at home, right?

Date: 2009-08-02 07:34 pm (UTC)Well, for most of it (although I'd miss a lot of Friday.) But the money aspect... :P I mean, I can get a weekend away, but I really want to use it to visit my best friend who I hardly ever see. If I was still back in grad school and single, I would have made this happen, though.
Granted, the "Unlikely Partnership" panel is probably addressing like the combination of science and religion or the Cylon alliance with the humans. But it would be so cool if it was the mutiny.
::should continue writing and torturing characters::

Totally packing now. I swear.

Date: 2009-08-02 08:47 pm (UTC)Uuuum, I want that panel to be about the mutiny as well! Holy crap. That would be fantabulous. Someone needs to sneak in a video camera if that is the case.
The My Guests thing is a little creeptastic, can't lie. Like when Facebook became Stalkerbook with the feed.
