I wrote two little comment ficlets last night, one for [livejournal.com profile] puszysty's meme and one for [livejournal.com profile] trovia's birthday. The meme was kind of neat- pick a first line from one of her fics and write a completely different fic for it.

Reluctance, Gaeta/Hoshi, PG-13, pure fluff

The first time Felix and Louis had sex was after the shipwide boxing tournament. It was the first time they really had a chance; their rackmates were either asleep or out drinking or in the infirmary, at least long enough for them to get into bed together and pull the privacy curtain. Now Louis was lying on his back, naked, sweaty, and panting for breath, Felix lying against him and very much in the same condition.

"Do you want to stay the night?" he asked Felix.

There was movement outside the curtain. Felix considered, and they both heard a familiar laugh. "What the frak is she doing in here?" Felix asked, confirming that it was indeed Starbuck.

Louis shrugged.

Felix eased himself up off of Louis, pulling on his tanks and his boxers. It was a tricky maneuver in such a tight space. Louis watched him regretfully; he'd really hoped Felix would stay. But he wasn't going to make a scene.

"I'll be back," Felix said. "I've really got to take a piss. Besides," he added, grinning wickedly, "I can't ever resist rubbing it in Starbuck's face when I get laid and she doesn't."

Louis couldn't help but laugh.

***

The second time Felix and Louis had sex was later that night, which of course was the point of Felix staying. It was slower and not nearly so desperate as the first time, and much gentler. Louis found he liked it better that way, and that worried him. Hot and fast and intense was what you did with a good frak. Gentle and slow was what you did with a lover.

When Felix drifted off to sleep after that time, Louis laid awake for long moments, listening to him breathe and wondering if he shouldn't just go find somewhere else to spend the night. He didn't need to get attached, especially to someone he'd have to see as frequently as a fellow CIC officer.

It was warm and comfortable in the rack, but Louis eased himself out and slept in an empty one.

And when he woke up in the morning, Felix had gotten the message. He didn't say a word to Louis as he dressed and left for duty.

***

The third time Felix and Louis had sex was a week later.

Of course, they couldn't not speak to each other. They worked together, and the truth was that Louis actually liked Felix. And so when Felix finally broached the question of why Louis had gotten out of the bed, he lied and said that he'd just gone to the head and when he came back, Felix had stolen the entire rack. Felix blushed and apologized, and Louis found himself staring at him again.

They didn't have sex right then and there of course, or even that night. But a few nights later they found themselves in the racks at the same time, pretended to play Triad for a while, and then Louis found himself in his rack, flat on his back as Felix blew him. And he wondered exactly why he was fighting the idea of regular sex with an attractive man that he liked very much, anyway.

They both slept in the rack that night.

***

Louis had lost count of the number of times they'd had sex. What he remembered about this time was that they were in Felix's rack. He was sitting up and Felix was sitting between his legs, lying back against his chest and playing with their hands, pressing their palms together. It felt nice.

"I could stay here all night," Felix sighed.

"Aren't you going to?"

"Well, I meant sitting like this." He lifted their conjoined hands and brushed a kiss over Louis's fingers. "It's nice. I feel... loved."

He laughed, but Louis didn't. He kissed Felix's neck gently, then his shoulder.

"You are."

The second one I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] trovia's birthday. She wanted something from the ALTUT universe from Noel's point of view. Rather than really getting into the darker aspects of his head, I went for more fluff. Because I really like Noel and Dee's friendship.

Simple Gifts, Dee, Narcho, and Hoshi, PG-ish

If Noel had to guess, he'd say the motorcycle was half done. Of course, it was impossible to determine that- it could take ages to finish putting it together, or they could find the necessary parts tomorrow. He wiped his hands on the rag.

Dee was sitting, her arms wrapped around her updrawn knees, staring at the bike. "So, I am going to get a ride, right?" she asked Noel.

"Of course. Why wouldn't you?" he asked.

Dee shrugged. "Did you used to ride a lot on Scorpia?"

"No, I just kept the bike in the garage and polished it with my ass. Of course I rode a lot. When I was home, anyway." He remembered the freedom, the hot wind rushing over his skin and and the rust-red dust kicking up into clouds behind him. It occurred to him that he'd never asked. "Did you ever ride?"

Dee snorted. "My parents weren't exactly the motorcycle type."

"You don't seem to be the type to do what your parents wanted," Noel pointed out.

Dee smiled sadly. "Actually," she said, "I used to be. Very much so."

Noel stared at her. "You miss them," he suddenly realized. "I mean, you've told me you didn't end on good terms, but..."

Dee shrugged. "Yeah, well. It's my birthday today."

Noel didn't know what to say to that.

***

"I don't get it. Why would you possibly want to do that for her?"

"Because I like her, Louis. She's my friend. How hard of a concept is this?"

Louis broke the piece of bread in half and glared at it like it was the one that had failed to promote him. "She's a bitch."

"Yeah, yeah. Spare me your rants, I've heard them before. Come on. Can you give me any idea who might actually have some left? And what I'd have to trade for it?"

Louis thought about it. "Figursky," he said finally. "Over on the Galactica. He might have some left. And I think Uster does, too."

"Great. Thanks." Noel got up. "I think I've got a shuttle run to make."

"Whatever," Louis scowled. "I still don't get it. What difference does a birthday make, anyway?"

Noel smiled. "Yeah, well, just wait till yours comes around."

Louis smirked. "I'll hold you to that."

***

For all that Louis claimed he had no knowledge of the black market, he was always right about who had what. Noel managed to get what he needed from Figursky by trading a girlie magazine he'd picked up from Boyd, his last bottle of beer (skunked, but still beer), and a promise that Figursky could drive the motorcycle once it was done. He tucked his prize into his flight jacket and headed back to the Pegasus, where he was immediately confronted with his next problem.

He didn't have the first frakking clue of how to do this.

"Did you get it?" Louis asked him when Noel came into the CIC.

"Yeah, thanks. Hey, listen. I have one more favor to ask of you."

"No."

"Come on, Louis. Please?"

"No."

"Lieutenant Allison," Commander Adama said, coming over. "Was there something you needed?"

Noel looked anxiously at the Commander. "No, sir."

"Then why are you in the CIC?"

"Sorry, sir." He turned back to Hoshi. "I'll give you a flying lesson. Please?"

"Noel-"

"Two."

"Lieutenant Allison!" Commander Adama snapped.

"I'm going, sir, I'm going." Noel shot a grateful, panicked look at Louis. "Twenty two hundred hours?"

Louis sighed. "I'll see you then," he relented.

***

"You always were a better cook than me," Noel said, because with Louis flattery generally got you everywhere. He perched on the counter, watching Louis carefully measure out the ingredients. "Do we really have everything?"

"It won't be the best cake ever, but yes. We should be able to manage." Louis eyed his bowl of batter suspiciously. "Do you have it?"

Noel reached in his jacket and produced it. "It" was a bar of chocolate, somewhat melted and probably a little old, but it didn't matter. It was one of the few bars of chocolate left in the universe.

Louis sniffed it and moaned. "I also get a piece," he warned Noel.

"I figured we could make cupcakes."

Louis looked at the batter. "We can get six," he agreed. "It's probably better that way anyway." He dug a pot out of the galley and broke the chocolate into it, eagerly licking his fingers. Noel couldn't resist- he grabbed Louis by the wrist and gently sucked on his thumb.

"Cute," Louis said. "I thought we weren't doing that anymore."

"I do owe you for helping me," Noel pointed out.

Louis sputtered with laughter. "And only you would think that sex with you is payment!" Noel shrugged, and Louis shook his head. "Let's finish your cupcakes, first," he said. "Then I'll think about it."

***

Noel ate one of the cupcakes when Louis at his. He figured that since he'd paid pretty dearly for the chocolate and the cooking lesson, he was entitled to two. Dee would never know. He brought the other four to her, complete with a candle on one, when they met that night to work on the bike.

"What's this?" Dee asked.

"Cupcakes. What's it look like?" Noel asked her. "You said it was your birthday."

Dee stared for a moment longer, and then reached out and touched one tentatively. "Thank you."

"Well," Noel said, "are we going to eat them?"

Dee laughed. "Definitely." She gave one to Noel, considered, and gave him a second. "I know I should take them home and give them to Lee," she said, "but he might construe it as accepting a bribe. Don't you think?"

"I can see your point. I think we'd better destroy the evidence."

"I agree." Dee picked up the chocolate cupcake. "Thank you, Noel." She leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. "It's the best birthday present I could have gotten."

Both are unbetaed.

Wow. I just noticed the banner at MRFH is from Repo! The Genetic Opera this month. You know, for a movie I had such mixed feelings about, that one really stuck in my head. I need to find the soundtrack on iTunes. I don't want to buy the whole thing, but there were a few tracks I really liked.

I made chocolate truffle cakes last night. I shouldn't have done it, but I did, and they're GOOD.

OT this morning, then the grocery store, and I'm going to clean the house this week. Sounds like an exciting day. :P

These were both so cute!

I love the line about destroying the evidence! Now I want cupcakes.

Thanks :)

I wrote the cupcake one while making/eating chocolate truffle cakes last night. It was inspiration :)

Awwwww, that first one is absolutely precious! It turned me into a melty puddle of goo. I love the way you write Gaeta/Hoshi. So sweet you almost get a tummyache. :) And of course I liked the second one as well. Dee and her boys! There is no bad.

Thanks! I can't resist some sweetness for them- I really can't. All canon gives them is angst, but they must have been happy if Hoshi was willing to do so much for Gaeta. And not only Dee and her boys, but Dee, her boys, and CHOCOLATE.

Awwwwwwwwwww *dissolves into a little puddle*

The last section of the Felix/Louis one had me bracing for pain...and then you didn't go there! It's like if Wash's head had raised and he'd said "I'm not quite dead, sir!" :o) *draws heart around these* I do so love Felix/Louis fluff. Felix deserves Louis so, so much.

MMMMMM, chocolate truffle cakes sound WONDERFUL. I have a loaf of chocolate zucchini bread in my freezer, but my bread knife is packed, which is good because I should take the bread camping this weekend.

Hey, even I need some unadulterated fluff every now and then. :) I know that Felix and Louis must have had issues, but they must have had some happiness together, too.

I had a really nice daydream that Joss actually was a Gaeta fan, and he thought it was a crime Gaeta/Hoshi never got screentime and got AJ and BD to do roles on Dollhouse. Never mind that I've not yet seen the show- I liked this daydream :)

And they are good! I need to be near more people, because I still have five of them left. We could have had a girl geek night last night. (They're easy, too.)

Oh my God, you know what I just realized I should write? A Hoshi-Starbuck confrontation after Gaeta's execution.

Fur would fly! Considering both their lovers are dead because of the other...
Question is: who would win?

I think Lee would have to break it up. Or Baltar and his peace keepers. And of course, Baltar's like the LAST person Hoshi wants to be around....

What's scary is this REALLY has some potential....

Do it!

Wait--as your Big Bang cheerleader, am I really allowed to feed plot bunnies that may distract you from writing your AU epic?

Eh, do it anyway! ;)

I really enjoyed both of these. The first is so wonderfully warm and sweet and hits the perfect balance in the burgeoning relationship of awkward, reticent, playful, and loving, all at once (and nobody died at the end! ;) ). I liked how the second one showed the Narcho/Hoshi relationship from an angle you couldn't have shown in ALTLUT; it has to be an interesting relationship, considering how much history they have, both positive and negative. Being that close to an ex--especially in a relationship that ended as badly as it sounds theirs did--would definitely be interesting.

Heh- thanks! I had fun writing them :)

Yeah, the Narcho/Hoshi relationship... I think it's a very strange thing. They essentially didn't speak for two years, from the time they broke up to the time the attacks happened. The attacks put them together again, and between the stuff I wrote in Pain and Heaven about one of the only people being left alive is someone you once loved very deeply, and then also just they honestly thought the Pegasus was IT for a while, and even now... Yeah. There's a history there they can't let go, and I'm actually curious how often they slept together after the attacks. I know they tried it for three weeks and then realized the relationship had been destroyed and they didn't romantically love each other anymore, and it just wasn't going to work between them. But I can also see- especially during the Pegasus time- them both being in the mood the same night and sleeping together because hell- what else are you going to do?

I also kind of wonder how Noel would have felt about Felix without Dee, which is another thing I haven't gotten to do much with. The way it happens in my head, Noel is genuinely glad that Louis has Felix and is happy, and he's truly okay with it. But he also has Dee to round out their little grouping, and I think that mitigates any third wheel feelings he'd have.

How was your week away, btw? :)
