Sunny days
Aug. 20th, 2009 09:20 amHee. I was headed up the stairs when I heard, "Mommy! Dr. Horrible is on Sesame Street!" And there was Neil Patrick Harris, playing as the Fairy Shoe Person. Needless to say, I had to watch. And I have to say, he had some nice comic moments with the guy who plays Chris, although I was a little disappointed that he never pronounced Telly's shoes "Legend... wait for it... dary." (Probably some copywrite thing.) But this segment goes up there with Will Arquette playing Max the Magician on Sesame Street (complete with powder blue costume, cape, and Final Countdown introduction music).
While I have a strong nostalgia for the classics, especially Gordon, I have to say I really like the new guy on Sesame Street- Chris Knowings/Robinson. He's funny and amiable, and I have to admit I totally ship him with the other new character Leela. (What? Sesame Street has ships. Maria married Louis when the actress got pregnant in real life.) But Chris Knowings has some really good expressions, and his laid-back persona played very well off of the uptight, type A Fairy Shoe Person.
I'm metaing about Sesame Street. Signs I really don't want to hit this last chapter of ALTLUT.
Also, insta-rec! George, by
puszysty is adorable and heartbreaking at the same time.
bantha_fodder wrote a fic a few years back where Gaeta had a stuffed elephant named George. I think it was probably supposed to be a joke, but George has been showing up a little recently- in my remix fic where Starbuck kidnaps George to get Gaeta to help her play a prank on Lee, in a fic someone else wrote where Skulls embarrasses Felix with it (I'm really sorry that I can't remember, although I'm almost positive it was
prophetkristy?), and now in this little piece where George is with Felix during some of his big moments in his life. If you still have a teddy bear somewhere in your possessions, you'll love this one.
Okay. I've got a half hour before Sesame Street is over. Come on, Dee. Let's do this.

Date: 2009-08-20 02:13 pm (UTC)I love that your kids watch Dr. Horrible. I highly approve of this and hope to mirror this style of parenting when I someday have children. :D

The George fic is waiting for me in a tab! eeee!

Date: 2009-08-20 11:39 pm (UTC)I didn't realize that that was why Maria and Luis got married. Why did my history of Sesame Street book fail to mention that? (actually, it glazed over pretty much everything that happened on the show itself, and was all about how the show was developed. Six chapters on Captain Kangaroo later, I realized it wasn't what I expected.)

Date: 2009-08-22 12:25 am (UTC)I also love Chris Knowings. He's very amiable and relaxed; there's something very genuine about him. I like Leela, too -- is she the one who is Maria's daughter? Or am I just getting confused?
And hey, when watching Sesame Street (or children's television in general), metaing happens. I watch the shows, too, but I can't help but wonder things like: Where are Max and Ruby's parents? Why is there a human character on Little Bear? Am I an evil person for hating Elmo? Is Martha on Martha Speaks voiced by a man or woman?
Um. I may watch too much children's t.v. Maybe I should cut back. :)
