Ugh. The first draft of the big part on the Colony is off to the beta. Hallelujah.
Yay! Fringe is back.
You know, it's funny I like this show so much, because I was never into the X-Files. Granted, I never even really tried the X-Files, and it was one of those shows where I sort of felt like you had to know what was going on more. But I got on the Fringe boat early, so... yeah.
So, I was watching, thinking "I need a Fringe icon. Hey! There's a GREAT shot- that shot of Charlie bent over Olivia on the bed, his hand on her forehead." I don't really have a Fringe OTP, but Olivia/Charlie was the closest I had to one.
So much for THAT ship :P
I figured he was dead when we saw the corpse on the floor. That sucks. I liked Charlie, and I always felt like he was carrying a bit of a torch for Olivia (although I forget- was he married?) I was also a little confused about how people in the industry kept saying Charlie wasn't coming back, but the actor kept insisting he wasn't leaving the show. Well, THAT got cleared up tonight.
Oh well.
But yay for a new female character!!! I've been assuming now that they've been renewed Fringe would start picking up some more characters. I like that they added a new female agent, and I am intrigued by her at this point. Amy seems quite interesting, and I'm all for some more interesting female characters. (Also, could we utilize Astrid a bit more, please???)
Colonel Broyles. I liked that. I loved the shift when he went into military mode, too. I was very amused at Broyles/Nina, though. (Or I think that one might be Nina/Broyles.) I'd figured it out when EW hinted that we'd see a romance for one of them, but still.
Speaking of ships, though, pleasepleaseplease for the love of all that is holy, DON'T DO PETER/OLIVIA! If I can't have Olivia with Charlie, single would be best, and Peter- I'd prefer him single, too, but Rachel, Astrid, Amy... right now I'm fine with any of them. But I really liked Joshua Jackson's interpretation in EW- that Peter and Olivia are like brother and sister with this weird father figure in Walter, and the three of them are a totally dysfunctional family unit of three very broken people. YES. But Peter/Olivia is just way too conventional and BORING.
I really need to rewatch the season finale from season 1- or read the TWOP recap (please tell me Jacob doesn't recap Fringe, or that he's not as in love with his adjectives and poetry and purple prose as he is for BSG). I spent half the episode trying to remember the end of the finale and what had happened to Olivia and what she'd done. Must re-catch myself up.
All in all, though, I'm very glad Fringe is back!
I kind of dread Heroes returning, though. Because I'll probably watch, and it will probably suck again, and ::sigh:: that will totally suck. But then every fourth episode will be good, keeping me hanging on.
Also? I don't watch Desperate Housewives, but I still think it's funny that both the West Wing Oval Office secretaries are on it.
I've got almost all of the Never Ever meme fragments done. I've just got
tin_o_bisuit's left to do. My favorite so far is the Admiral Dee one :) Sorry I've been quiet- the big bang's been eating me alive!

Date: 2009-09-18 03:19 am (UTC)I know. I looked at falafel's prompts and cracked up, because boy, does she know me. Fortunately, she gave me evil!Zarek. I don't agree with the evil Zarek interpretation, but it doesn't hit my squicks like infidelity or love-makes-babies does!!!!!

Date: 2009-09-18 08:59 pm (UTC)But, yeah. The end. My first thought was "Thank GOD I don't write for this show!", because my two favorite characters to write would be Charlie and Astrid, and I would have gotten my heart broken a bit. I was bummed about that.
Peter/Rachel wouldn't be bad. I don't love the idea, but I'm in utterly no way opposed to it. The only ship I'm truly opposed to (that they would go near) is Peter/Olivia.
